What kind of design is this

these types of scenes which focus on creature/monster design and worldbuilding outside the main character arcs are what made star wars great.

instead of puppets, digital art is used in the prequels. the techno robot guy is actually animated quite well, still looking good 15 years later. the sounds he makes are interesting and fun to hear as well, like everything ben burtt did under lucas' final say (i say this because there is obviously less of a focus on innovating the technical aspects of star wars now, especially sound design).

these few seconds alone are more imaginative and inspired than the entirety of tfa and rogue one. this is the kind of magic that's now gone, but most people are too stupid to notice or too distracted by epic memes
