janeway is such a dumb cunt. she won't violate any rules to get home faster, but if she's butthurt against some alien or something she will violate all kinds of rules. they should have staged a mutiny and thrown her out an airlock. then put a man in charge. sorry, but i'm not going to keep pretending some dumb cunt can run shit as well as a man when getting home depends on it.

Most episodes are even better than TNG to be honest. Janeway is the only captain I'd want to serve under. Extremely capable and strong leader. Not bound by petty philosophical bullshit.

Kirk would be fun, but no sense of duty whatsoever. He'll just get you killed.

Picard is a fucking pussy. Thank god he had Riker to make the tough decisions.

Sisko is an uppity guilt tripping nigger. I guess affirmative action is still a thing 500 years from now. What a shitshow.

>What went wrong?
Western civilization for the last 200 years.
Just to push people's buttons, I'll say this:
We need to stop mad men like Rodenbery to push for naive and impossible ideas the likes of which we've seen in old Trek and especially at the start of TNG. DS9 can stay. It showed how retarded the whole Federation moralizing is.
Things like "B-but he wasn't an sjw" doesn't work. He was, only for the older generation. You can bet your ass moderates of that time looked at him like we're looking at muslim black womyn nu-trek. Still doesn't change the value of many stories Star Trek told and how important it was. I liked a lot of it.

You're saying that you think DS9 is the best because it has a black captain. Try watching it for its content, then realise what a boring piece of shit it was (on the whole). Granted there are a handful of good episodes, but it's spoiled with the over-arching spiritual-journey story.

Also AveryBrooks acting, someone post that scene where they are all staff at a sci-fi magazine, it's jaw droppingly bad.

>You're saying that you think DS9 is the best because it has a black captain.
No, I'm saying you think it's shit because it has a black captain.

Nice projection, fag.

Personally, I find it hard to choose between DS9 and TNG. DS9 dealt with the shades of gray the other series didn't, and the extended arc allowed some serious exploration of characters. Episodes like Duet, the Dukat-cult one, the one where they assassinated the romulan, these are just simply excellent, and have a depth other great episodes like city on the edge of forever and darmok and jalad don't have.

On the other hand, not having grit and angst allows a cleaner kind of story to be told, which is also good. To thine own self, masks, the one with the flute, all very excellent in a way that DS9 couldn't do.

So I really can't choose between them.

>>79357936
I can see how that'd trigger you. It was a great episode and a phenomenal performance, though. It's a shame your racism prevents you from enjoying good art.

everyone is racist, especially black people. you would know this if you had been around them and not just had a few token black friends in a primarily white area. they tend to behave themselves there. I don't understand why people like you insist on denying reality just to feel good about yourself. it doesn't make you a better person, it just makes you delusional. No matter how hard you try to project your fart sniffing progressive attitude the truth of how you feel always slips out from time to time. For instance, no matter how liberal someone is, you won't catch anyone choosing to enroll their children in a majority black school by choice.

Equinox portrayed a ship that would've been a more realistic portrayal of the way a captain would handle the Delta quadrant.

Gets thrown across half of the galaxy and meets some vicious foe; is forced to barter with some religious group who happens to have sub-space aliens visit; realizes he has a source of energy and it's kill or be killed so you make a compromise.

Janeway pretty much tells Ransom in that episode "Fuck your crew, we an hero before kill others before ourselves". The entire episode was like a lid on the coffin that is Janeway because of how many chances she was given to be perceived as the sensible person in any given situation. Real shame considering Mulgrew is a good actor.

>What are you even talking about?
This explains it. You lack the self-awareness to even know that you responded to three people with essentially "yeah but I've got this special card I'm going to pull out that will make me right *types the word racist* Heh. nothin' personal kiddo." You understand that almost every person on the planet is a "racist". Not the classical Trotskyan type but the racial preference type. People tend to congregate and prefer things of their own kind.

I laugh at your posts unironically because I know people like you exist who need the world to be as cookie cutter and saccharin as not to even engage people in conversation. You cut off all sensible debate worse than just calling someone a nigger when you call them a racist. Instead of saying "that's not good enough, I'll need reasons and not just 'Sisko was black therefore bad' ", you use the term racist which has the same function as "nigger" in this sense as all reasonable discourse is shut off and you don't have to think or admit harsh truths thereafter (or at the bare minimum try and debate the guy).

I believe that answers your question..?

The episode revolves around the Captain chasing a memory spirit who is represented as being the wife of a successful WHITE SCIENTIST.
Then Bajorans want hate crimes for Cardashians. Followed by a sentient hologram who lived in segregated Las Vegas (while white people and (((shapeshifters))) trounce about having fun at their expense).

Very subtle they were on that Deep Space Nine.

Enterprise may not be the best trek series but I will agree that it somehow manages to be the comfiest trek, for me and i think it has to do mainly with the cast. Scott Bakula seems like the combination of the ultimate bro-goofball type of guy that you could get the best of both of those types of people. Not too competitive but will stand his ground. Enjoys a good ribbing but not to the point where someone gets injured. Seems like an awesome guy.

Star trek is a pretty silly and flawed show no matter which series you choose. They're all good, except for ENT.

Most criticisms of any one series also apply to other series, everyone's just being a fanboy to their chosen series.

Every time I go through TNG or TOS I realize more and more how much is wrong with them. Every time I go through DS9 or VOY I find more to appreciate. All the series have retarded episodes.

>SISKO: Oh, believe me, you have my undivided attention. Now, let me get this straight. You're not responsible for what happened during the occupation, the Bajorans are.
>DUKAT: Yes, yes, exactly.
>SISKO: So, why do you think they didn't appreciate this... rare opportunity you were offering them?
>DUKAT: Because they were BLIND, IGNORANT FOOLS. If only they had cooperated with us, we could have turned their world into a paradise! From the moment we arrived on Bajor, it was clear that we were the superior race. But they couldn't accept that. They wanted to be treated as equals when they most certainly were not. Militarily, technologically, culturally, we were almost a century ahead of them in every way. We did not choose to be the superior race. Fate handed us our role. And it would've been so much easier on everyone if the Bajorans had simply accepted their role. But no, day after day they clustered in their temples and prayed for deliverance, and night after night they planted bombs outside of our homes. Pride. Stubborn, unyielding pride. From the servant girl that cleaned my quarters to the condemned man toiling in a labor camp to the terrorist skulking through the hills of Dahkur Province. They all wore their pride like some TWISTED badge of honor.
>SISKO: And you hated them for it.
>DUKAT: Of course I hated them! I hated everything about them! Their superstitions and their cries for sympathy, their treachery and their lies, their smug superiority and their stiff necked obstinacy, their earrings and their BROKEN, WRINKLED NOSES.
>SISKO: You should have killed them all, hmm?
>DUKAT: Yes! Yes! That's right, isn't it? I knew it! I've always known it! I should have killed every last one of them. I should have turned their planet into a graveyard the likes of which the galaxy had never SEEN!! ...I should have killed them ALL.

Computer, queue these intructions.

Activate Emergency Command Hologram, register all critical command personnel as medically unfit for service and commence a life support malfunction drill on bridge and engineering. Lock cargo bay doors, shuttle bay doors and transporters. Deactivate all small arms and replicators.

Establish a datalink with my neural net and reroute the primary power coupling to the transporter array. Dematerialize as many crew members as possible in sequence prioritizing security followed by command, ops and engineering.

Initiate the Neelix Symbiogenesis algorithm and await my reconfiguration of crew members held in the transporter buffer. Rematerialize modified crew members in the cargo bay with a replicated Orion slave shock collar from Tom Paris's "naomi4" holodeck program then admit an unmodified crew member to the buffer. If their first name has more than 1 syllable, remove the last syllable sans the first consonant. Add "ix" to each crew member's first name. Special case: Seven of Nine; remove borg implants; reconfigure with Tashar Yar DNA; rename "Six of Nine".

When all crew members have been processed initiate the Worf-Zimmerman subroutine, transfer my consciousness to the body and transport me in front of the cargo bay doors. Correction, increase adrenaline and testosterone levels 4-fold to induce a state of rage-lust and leave Worf's genitals in their original state, with extra genital barbs.

Execute.

Bullshit. Archer and Reed blew it up from the inside. You could destroy a cube the same way, but TNG pussies were too scared to do that.

I do not need to be helped. I do not need to be cured. What I need, and what all of those who are like me need, is your understanding and your compassion. We have not injured you in any way. And yet, we are scorned and attacked. And all because we are different. What we do is no different from what you do. We talk and laugh. We complain about work and we wonder about growing old. We talk about our families, and we worry about the future. And we cry with each other when things seem hopeless. All of the loving things that you do with each other, that is what we do. And for that we are called misfits and deviants and criminals. What right do you have to punish us? What right do you have to change us? What makes you think you can dictate how people love each other?
What did xhe mean by this?

There's a scene in the DS9 episode "Siege of AR-558" where Quark is talking to Nog at the outpost and says something to the effect that "humans are a good, kind, wonderful people as long as you keep their holodecks working, their sonic showers online and keep their bellies full. When those creature comforts run out, they're just as bad as any Breen, Nozikan, or Jem'Hadar."

THAT is what I wanted Voyager to be, but with a lot of Maquis mutiny dramatic elements. Equinox was such a great arc because Ransom gave no fucks. Federation laws only apply in Federation space. You have to do whatever it takes to survive.

Which is why I'm annoyed that in the series pilot, Janeway didn't set the tri-cobalt devices to explode on a timer so they could use the array first, then have it blow up.

Discovery is going to be such a shitshow, I'm scared guys.
>>

seconding this, the bajoran occupation was always a metaphor for the holocaust, Dukat being a Hitler that survived the event

he wasn't le evil holocaust denying nazi, but a character with a great deal of authority on the issue making a counter argument against the official narrative. The unknowability of the event gave the character that mysterious edge

of course hollywood can't let a character like that persist

Mulgrew is such an ugly bitch. And worse yet, she was a shitty mother who severely neglected her own children for years just so she could star in a very shitty sci-fi series...

Selfish bitch runs her children's natural father out of the house and then leaves the kids with surrogate "caregivers" in order to pursue wealth and fame for her own selfish vanity.

There's a reason her kids still refuse to watch a single one of her Voyager episodes.

"There were days when my kids were suffering, and, you know, you can't walk off a set... so the preoccupation with your children's pain is enormous, and add to that eight pages of "techno-babble" that you've got to execute by 2:00 in the morning and you can't get to the phone because they don't let you... It's... it's... it's very hard... You know, in retrospect, you know, I mean, you could do it that way... Say, oh, I should have done this as opposed... I mean, who knows? I mean, so, so... so I hold fast to what I've chosen to do and I'm not apologizing for that, but the attendant toll taken on family and all of that, it's... That's it."

Confirmed for not having watched the series or dementia.
Series 2 involves nothing but fucking abysmal Kazon focused episodes, shitty and badly acted Kes centric episodes, Threshold, "Resistance" (the teaser of which made it sound like Janeway was going to be a whore for a week), and several others. Only season 1 and parts of seaosn 7 compete with season 2 of Voyager.

Season 3 is actually the 4th best season overall because of how focused on Seven and the EMH seasons 4-6 are.

Season 3 had: Unity, Fair Trade, The Swarm, Alter Ego, Distant Origin, the one where Vorik and B'Elanna go into Pon Farr, and Scorpion part 1.

Those are all decent enough, especially Scorpion and Fair Trade. Season 2 has three great episodes in it and everything else is garbage to fair tier. The Thaw and Meld could've been in any other season as well, they are very standalone.

Shran was a recurring character and was best there like Garak and Dukat on DS9. It would've taken away from his appeal had they used him more, and, no, going back to TOS every week or moving forward to TOS in their timeline would've been a mistake.
Each new Star Trek should be about the unknown or exploring something new and I think just continually thrusting Klingon/Romulan stories back and forth with other early races would get old quick and the series would've most certainly died after a fifth season.

That episode could've been partially good, since the Nazis as eternal bad men trope is so ingrained that it doesn't even offend /pol/sters.
But they had to bring in some sassy sista' and some mobbed Italians which isn't that bad until you consider it was just another oppurtunity to get in "day be rayciss tuh me cuh i aint lily white, oh, won't you kiss my huge black lips scott bakula?"
I liked the relationship between the temporal nazis who told the kommandant "We could erase you from the timeline" etc.

I think the episode was the only cliffhanger they could come up with when not knowing if the show was going to be renewed so Im sure Braga thought "let's go back to nazi germany" because that's always good for some ratings.

The probe wasn't necessarily robotic, it just had some highly advanced processing that's really nothing more than what we already have now.

V'Ger was not a Borg progenitor and it was only hinted at as such by Shatner in one of his novels I think.

There was also an episode drafted called "Origin of the Species" on Voyager that never was shot but was considered for a while. I haven't read it all yet but it had to due with nanites I think.

The truly bad thing about Enterprise was the ridiculous number of incessant, hawking, annoying adverts which, even in season 1 made the storyline difficult to impossible to follow. But then UPN went so far as to increase the playback speed of season 2 by 5%, season 3 by 10%, and season 4 by 15%, all in order to put more ridiculous, hawking commercials into the hour, as if the show wasn't already rendered hard to watch by the excessive number of ads they squeezed into season 1.

I, for one, was only able to enjoy the show after it came out on dvd.

Even so, season 4 was still the worst, because that is where it began to actually devolve into something more similar to the garbage treks which preceded it.

Thank God it stopped before it went too far...

>The truly bad thing about Enterprise was the ridiculous number of incessant, hawking, annoying adverts

UPN was probably the worst choice of all the networks because of how horribly they handled the content they showed week to week. Their executives meddled endlessly into their affairs.

Brandon Braga said they wanted a fucking BOY BAND in the mess hall in the corner. Imagine a Starfleet Admiral sending a subspace message in to Archer...

>Captain.. Admiral Gardner's on subspace
>In my ready room
>*cuts to ready room*
>Archer, tell me 4's A Crowd didn't piss off those Vulcan senators last week
>*sigh* Little Nathan made some remarks and called the young Vulcan ambassador "baby" and things sort of escalated
>I'll have your head for this!
