Hobbit is one, and it was made for children.

Hobbit could never touch LOTR because LOTR was meant to be way more ambitious right from the start. The worst part of the Hobbit movies is that they actually did try to rival LOTR, which is something it never could.

I really fucking liked them. Having said that though, I saw them in the cinema every Boxing Day with my grandmother who's a massive LOTR fan. So I have a lot of the sentimental attachment to the experiences.

The problem is not how every shot is conected anon, is what takes place inside the shots.
Editing can help set a pace to better understand what's happening on screen, on the plot or inside a character's head. enhance an already good movie, fill in shooting mistakes but no film was ever saved by edition. NOT ONE.

Lads I'm going to watch the fan edit tonight and I have never seen any of the Hobbit movies.

I've been pissed since they announced it was going it was going to be split into 3 movies instead of long one.

Right away I knew it would be shit and apparently it is. So I've been bitter about the whole thing but I'm going in with a sense of optimism.

This. The hobbit just is not an epic book like Lord of the Rings. It's a story that should be told in no more than one movie. I honestly went to see the first one and was shocked to realize they were only 1/3 of the way done with the book, I expected it all to be in one film.

The hobbit only really holds weight if it comes before LOTR trilogy. It's impossible, no matter how good the script, to make the Hobbit anything with as much impact. It's just not a book on the epic scale of Lord of the Rings.

Prequels are usually always a failure, simply because 90% of the time the audience already knows what happens in the end. They are only engaging when the audience really cares about the character enough to want to know the story of their journey despite knowing where the character ends up.

Bilbo is not a major character in Lord of the Rings. The hobbit is mostly full of characters we don't really relate to from the main trilogy.
