All of them are great though, so 6 being last doesn't mean it was bad at all. The series finale gets far too much hate too, I hated it at first, but have grown to love it after re watching the series a few times, and realizing it's about the character's stories, not just the Island and the lore and whatnot. I still cry like a bitch when I watch it.

That end scene of the first season of John / Jack looking down the hatch shaft still sends chills down my spine every time I re-watch it. That was the moment to me that this show became just insane. That said, 3 had the best finale of them all, such a strong arc of episodes leading up to them finally getting a call from the boat. Season 5 is brilliant as well, with the whole Juliet / Sawyer ending, it's one of the best episodes, also dat soundtrack as they they try to set off the bomb is incredible.

Unfortunately, I doubt it. Every show that's tried to recapture what made lost special seems to completely ignore its characters and instead obsess over trying to be "mindblowing," without realizing that they're predictable

Also, longer seasons really allowed Lost to explore a lot of different mysteries and characters. Part of the reason there was so much discussion and theories is because there was so much in the show to discuss between all the characters and random clues each episode. Sure, there were some filler moments, but as a whole, I think lost really benefited early on from having ~25 episode seasons.

Look at westworld. That show, like Lost, had an interesting set up and potential to bring together and explore a variety of characters and explore some deep lore, but instead had shit characters that no one cared about and a straightforward narrative with "twists" that could be seen from a mile away by anyone paying attention. Literally all the major reveals in that show were predicted in advance by a large group of fans.

If Lost aired today, it would probably be 10-12 episodes a season and Jack and John would be the only 2 important characters and flashbacks would be restricted to one or two "special" episodes a season and no one would care
