As long as she doesn't show her vagoo, nipples or even curses they'll probably do a 1:1 but with "robo blood"
since americans are ok with this sort of thing if theres no swearing

It will be the same thing. They'll have green gloves/kneepads on her and cg in her limbs ripping off. She'll still be wearing that unitard so no titties.

What genre does Ghost in the Shell belong to

a.) Fantasy
b.) "Science fiction"

There is only 1 right answer here choose wisely.
>>
>>79253052
What the fuck does this even mean. The lines between fantasy and scifi are so blurred that some scifi is fantasy and some fantasy is scifi

For example, what would you call star wars? Scifi or fantasy?

Stupid question isnt it?
>>
>>79253107

>>79253122
So your saying star wars has no fantasy elements?

>>79253123

Btw id say gits (only seen the original anime film and none of the others so feel free to tell me if im wrong) is 100% scifi, but even then its still kinda fantasy because the whole point of sci fi is that its a "fantasy" of what the future may be like

It's flashy and eye-catching, with saturated colors and shiny holograms pasted everywhere, but I wouldn't call it good.

Visuals are supposed to:
>show what's happening
>contribute to a mood

Looking at the comparison, in the live action scenes sometimes it's hard to tell what you should be looking at without zooming in. And it doesn't effectively create any mood except unnecessary intensity with bright lights and saturated colors.

Just look at these stupid holograms with multi-cultural monks and geishas, this is so far from what gits is about.

>So why then not go for the hard R and cast a lesser known actress who is willing to do the nudes scenes in order to make the movie right?
they got scarjew in as a bankable actress to make sure it doesn't flop.
The film will probably be big in japan, especially for the westaboos, normies will see it, think it is "the new matrix" and it will do ok, most fans of the originals will probably pirate it or pickit up on dvd.
It won't flop as in be a bomb, it will make a profit through.

Personaly, it is a catch 22. On one hand I want it to flop as they are butchering something that should not have been touched unless they were ready to go all in 1:1 and casting jap actors.
On the other hand, if it does flop we will probably never see any other live action anime remake, some of which could possibly be kino, depending on directors and actors.

Major gets on top and pulls, pulls... pulls.. straining every muscle in her body to breaking point, but just before her arms gives out the hatch comes loose and she rips it right off.

She then reaches inside to find a little guy operating it and smirks before breaking his neck, but only after he's told her who is behind the conspiracy to keep her memory suppressed.

After that Batou says "It's finally over", but the Major says "No. It's only just begun" and we see her looking at her own employer's building as the music swells and we fade to black in anticipation of GitS 2, coming 2019.

What we need is some new big-name movie studios. Weve had pretty much the same ones since cinema was invented and especially nowadays they are run by businessmen who only make films for profit and not the love of film.
I wish somw rich cunt would start a new studio to make big budget blockbusters that are actually good and not just by the numbers crap, but sadly this just isnt feasible right now.
Hopefully with the advent of streaming and less people going to cinemas companoes like netlix will starting getting richer and more prolific and able to make big bidget blockbusters that arent dependant on ticket sales because it doesnt matter if people watch ot as long as they subscribe to netflix they still get paid

The trailers look okay.

The production design is derivative but it looks okay. The action sequences look derivative but okay. Scarjo doesn't actually bother me and I think it's decent casting considering it could be much worse e.g. Jlaw.

Lots of okay there. I'm guessing it's going to be a 5/10 movie. I never saw that Snow White movie, the only other movie the director has done, and the screen writers haven't written anything really good. Without the source material this would bomb.

it's an ok movie, nothing special. More of a mix of western and chinese cinema, more chinese.
desu I only mentioned it as it seems china are recruiting western actors who have famous names to try to get popular in world cinema.
I hope it works, we need a mix up from capeshit and generic action film 72826486748937

The first to statements were generalisations and desu i accept if im wrong there, but the whole point of the last statement was wishful thinking and that im sick of the paint by numbers shite that we get nowadays. When was the last time we got something as completely original as the first star wars for example?

Yeah sure, I'm not justifying them. The refugee crisis in Europe is awful and many of them are just pouncing on an opportunity to abuse European hospitality. There is a theory about that, actually.

Everyone was wondering why ScarJo was wearing that stupid grey suit in the photos before the trailer was released, well now we know it is because they CGI'd her body to make her less fat.

In theory, this means that they could simply CGI her getting all muscular during the tank scene.

why
>>
>>79251166
I was always confused as to why her fingers didnt break first
>>
>>79254707

They are actually combining the plots from GiTS, Innocence, Solid-State, and 2nd Gig.

>GiTS, all of the iconic scenes
>Innocence, the geishas
>Solid-State, the weird shit with the gestalt brain
>2nd Gig, Kuze is in this, even if he isn't called Kuze

They are also ripping off Robo-Cop by having Motoko's memories being wiped, and her body forcibly being turned cybernetic by an evil corporation. Instead of her just being a kid with a terminal disease, and then eventually getting into clandestine operations following a military career.
>>
>>79254757

Kino is why.

Scene wouldn't make sense if her fingers simply broke off. It'd be way less dramatic.

Fantastic animation, sci-fi that delves into ai and concepts surrounding individuality without coming off preachy or like the writer took a philosophy 101 class, incredible direction and cinematography that plays off and adds to the narrative in sublte and sometimes overt ways when needed.

There's very little actually wrong with it, despite the final scene (not the dialogue but the static and switching of chairs and light) being confusing as fuck.

Scarjo """"responds"""" to the whitewashing controversy

"I certainly would never presume to play another race of a person. Diversity is important in Hollywood, and I would never want to feel like I was playing a character that was offensive. Also, having a franchise with a female protagonist driving it is such a rare opportunity. Certainly, I feel the enormous pressure of that—the weight of such a big property on my shoulders.”

>I hope no one notices how I sidestepped this issue by making a completely superfluous comment on the sex of the main character
>>
>>79255109

Kazunori Ito is fucking great. He does so much stuff with Sci-Fi. Oshii definitely made the movie, but if it wasn't for Ito creation of the screenplay (which everyone else after just parroted), there wouldn't be a GiTS.
>>
I just want HitB to watch it and make fun of anime will shitting on ScarJo's acting.

If you're a cyborg your body is a tool, and she's a combat cyborg. Wouldn't you want a gun that could cannibalize itself to shoot when out of ammo? Sure it'll break it, but you can just get a new one instead of being dead.
>>
I hope it's a major success just so down the line we see the second season of Stand Alone Complex adapted.

I'd like to see how Hollywood would try and handle anti-refugee themes.
>>
>>79255157

Both.

There is a sort of chronological order to them, but it is more a background thing. Skip Arise, it's fucking terrible.

The general rule is to do the following:

>GiTS (1995)
>GiTS: Innocence
>SAC
>SAC 2nd Gig
>Solid-State

It doesn't really concern you because you haven't seen any of them yet, but there is a chance that they are going to make more SAC. Which would be amazing.

I want to point out that GiTS (95) and Innocence are their own canon, in fact it could very well be argued that Innocence and the 95 movies aren't connected either.
>>
>>79255157

Both, same character between the two but have different self-contained stories. Note the show is fucking fantastic but obviously doesn't have near as good animation compared the movie.
>>
>>79255179

Actually, I can't remember where but I think that Jay has seen the '95 movie and liked it. What will probably happen is they are both going to shit on the movie, Mike will say: "I don't watch none of those fuckin' cartoons." And then Jay will try to add some context about why it is bad in comparison to the original which will be lost on Mike because he hasn't seen it and just doesn't care.
>>
>>79251166
So what's the meaning behind this scene?
>>
>>79255111
It IS physically possible you fucking idiot. It would be hard to do because you have instinctual barriers stopping you from doing it.
There are stories of mothers lifting up cars because their kids were stuck under them, tearing muscle and possible even breaking a bone in the process, because their motherly instincts were stronger than the ones for self-preservations.

The thing with AKIRA is that while it can stand on it's own it doesn't do it well, it does it as well as it possibly can when considering how much shit it's trying to stuff into one movie. It's mostly significant for it's incredible direction, music, budget and animation to the point that it's still a standard bearer decades later.

There's literally no possible way to do AKIRA unless multiple top tier american film studios get together, bring their best directors, have billions invested into it and then it flops at the box office killing the american industry despite the movie changing the industry in numerous ways in how things are shot and expressed in the medium for decades to come.

Anything short of the american industry dying but becoming even better through death, isn't worth it.
>>
>>79255263

The entire movie is about the Major doubting whether or not she is real, or was ever human in the first place.

There is a lot of direct discussion about this, and then some minor allegories (like when she sees "herself" in the building eating lunch).

The scene is about the Major going beyond her mechanical limitations, thereby showing that she isn't just a machine. Then the scene following this where she decides to merge with the Puppetmaster is her deciding to ascend beyond her humanity. It's really quite poignant.
>>
>>79255335

I like how the movie is all deep and shit and then later on the author hinted towards the fact the Major is just a dude who wanted to be a girl and chose the body of a pornstar so he could scissor lesbians.

Ghost in the Shell (2015) is set as a prelude to the original Ghost in the Shell from 1995. It ends where the movie from 1995 begins.
Ghost in the Shell (set in 2029) from 1995 or its 2008 remake Ghost in the Shell 2.0
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (set in 2030)

The Laughing Man, a feature-length OVA summary of S.A.C.

Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG (set in 2032)

Individual Eleven, a feature-length OVA which retells the events of S.A.C. 2nd GIG, altered to focus on both the Individual Eleven investigation and the relationship between Hideo Kuze and Motoko Kusanagi

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (set in 2032)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex − Solid State Society (set in 2034) from 2006 or 2011 in 3D
Ghost in the Shell: Arise OVA series (set in 2027). It's a prequel telling the origin story of Section 9

Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Alternative Architecture is a recompilation for television of Ghost in the Shell: Arise.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie is a movie set after Ghost in the Shell: Arise that is a continuation of the plot of the Pyrophoric Cult episode

I doubt a mechanical arm would do it, it'll just reach the maximum stress load and stay at that pressure if nothing happens. Also it would probably tear it's pneumatic feeds first and just become disabled before teh pressure could overcome the strength of the material making up the bones and muscle.

Everyone ignores Shirow because he in no way intended for anything that came out of his porn to actually have an impact culturally. He also had zero real input on the making of the '95 movie, and nothing to do with anything thereafter.

He's like a dude that has a track he made sampled, and then goes on about, "Well the fucking Wall wouldn't be anywhere as good if Pink Floyd didn't decide to sample my three lines of dialogue from something no one has ever seen!"

Got anything to substantiate that? You can see clear as day what they are borrowing from, and you can literally see Kuze (or a Kuze-clone) in the trailers.
>>
>>79255507

That's where you are wrong.

Oshii has George Lucas syndrome. He's had it for a while, it is why he decided to remake the original movie with terrible CGI.

He's actually really excited for the new movie because of all the CGI they are going to use.
>>
>>79255507

Despite a few flaws Edge of Tomorrow was a decent film that drew its basis from All You Need Is Kill.

The problem lies in Anime Adaptions where they try and bring all the shit that only works in Japanese/animated media.
>>
Come on, admit it, /tv/.

YOU ARE ALL HYPED FOR THIS.

Do you mean the OVA, or 2nd Gig as a whole?

Also, for any GiTS fan y'all should check out the book that was a tie-in to Innocence. Novel about Batou looking for his missing dog while going through an existential crisis, it's fantastic.

Edge of Tomorrow also had the benefit of:

>Good writer
>Good actors/actresses

>Good practical effects

this is copy pasta from a website not my own view, my view would be to watch them in release order.

Ghost in the Shell (2015) is actually pretty good imo,and it literally does conclude at the beginning of the original, through there are some continuity.

I watched the original first and I am quite sad I never got a resoulution of what happened to kusinagi after she merged with the ppuppet master.

I think really with gits you have to take each instalment as a separate entity with loose ties to one another.
>>

>>79255550
ScarJo's GitS flaws are precisely them completely failing to understand the shot composition and the artstyle of the original movie. That's why Scarlet's Motoko looks like a person wearing a fucking safety-harness for insane grandmas, not a cutting-edge piece of tech.
>>
>>79255620
