I don't think the script was shit. If you think any of the dialogue was bad or cringey, try watching it through the perspective of the unloved, below average intelligence guy who believes himself to be an intellectual based on his manner of speech.

He does his best to try to explain the world to Manny, but does mostly a shitty job because he is trying to figure out what the world means to himself.

I was trying to make sense of the movie, then I stopped and realized it is just absurd.
Got to the ending and thought they were gonna make sense with a poignant "dano has gone bush crazy" then manny sails off into the ocean farting.
