Do they ever get the wrong guy and the accused is actually innocent? I don't watch this show but from what I've seen it seems like it has zero depth.

They vary it up. Usually they don't get to the main suspect until the back half of the episode. But if it's courtroom-centric then usually the accused is innocent or there are evidence-related shenanigans.

It's a procedural, so there's not much depth anyway, but keep in mind that it's essentially a pitch-black comedy.
