I really liked it, and thought the twist was well done (there's actually a Twilight Zone episode with a similar concept), or at least well enough for a 22 minute sitcom, plus the characters really made it shine, especially as you said Ted Danson.

For S2 I'm hoping we get to see someone from the REAL Good Place come looking for Janet and perhaps a peek into how strict the standards are to get in there

I liked it although the Indian girl and "monk" weren't that good/funny
