This is not necessarily a bad twist. But when you think about it, Itachi turned his already emotionally messed up little brother into a complete psychopath by keep pushing his revenge agenda. He ended up a criminal and join a terrorist organization Itachi wants to stop in the first place.

I guess even Kishi realizes he fucked up and so giving all those mary-sue moment (its all according to keikaku, i still have a secret power lmao) to Itachi.

Up to Sasuke rescue arc for sure. Early Shippuden is okay-ish with some good episodes once in a while.

Once Sasuke kill Orochimaru and later Itachi the whole thing just feel boring. Naruto vs Pain is underwhelming too.
