>2 hours and 43 minutes of degeneracy
Oh boy, I can't wait!
He will not divide us
>>79184693
I was off 4chan when this came out and I didn't even think about how badly it would trigger neckbeards. Are you actually mad?
I think it's truly amazing and beautiful.
>>79184786
I bet you have an STD.
>>79184800
no I've only have sex a couple of times. Why would you assume that?
>>79184848
Because thinking a movie about how virtuous dirty stinky hippies is "beautiful" leads me to believe that your genitals are diseased.
as a virgin this movie sounds like bullshit to me
although i suppose it cant be any more so than my life
maybe ill give it a go
>>79184693
This movie is shit.
Fuck this "film."
>>79184848
Almost definitely have HPV. Probably don't know it.
does Andrea Arnold make anything that isn't poverty porn for housewives?
Says the fag posting on 4chan's most degenerate blue board
>>79184800
I bet you're a virgin.
>>79185158
Nope.
>you're a southern girl, a real American Honey like me
Ewwwwwww
>>79185084
>implying housewives went to see this
Did De Sica make poverty porn? Should nobody tell stories about these people?
>>79185473
I don't know about that but let me tell you this: What is a show that is universally loved by housewives and women in general? Outlander. What is Outlander about? A woman escapes her humdrum life and goes on an adventure with a dashing, daring rogue.
What is American Honey about? A young woman escapes her humdrum existence and goes off on an exciting adventure with a group of rogues led by the charismatic Shia Lebeuf.
This isn't real exploitation cinema, it's a chick flick with a poverty porn aesthetic.
>le poor also have le life
Literally what?

I dont think youve watched the film
Kill yourself
>>79186231
I got about 2 hours left. So far I'm right.
>>79186241
Watch a movie before you give your ill-informed opinions on it.
>>79186465
1 hour and 50 minutes left. Still right.
>>79186465
He's basically correct.
>>79186476
>>79186584
I'm not who he was responding to. I'm just giving him some good advice. Giving opinions based on assumptions of a piece of art is never a good idea.
I also don't understand how escapism for one film is automatically equivalent to escapism for another medium, or that escapism is inherently bad. Do you believe escapism should never exist from a female perspective? Or that poverty is not allowed to be represented in cinema?
Also, please define "real" exploitation cinema and "poverty porn".
>>79184786
what was "amazing" about it?
>>79186865
Because escapism masquerading as a real artistic endeavor like Andrea Arnold's work is sanctimonious and worthless. Fish Tank was exactly the same: A coming of age chick flick with shirtless Michael Fassbender to get the panties wet.
>Also, please define "real" exploitation cinema
Gummo. What do I win? Ken Park. What do I win? Last Tango in Paris. What do I win?
>>79186918
Gummo is one of my favorite films and I enjoyed AH in the same vein (obviously not as much). Maybe I never saw AH as a "true artistic endeavor" going into it that gave me a better impression.
I don't mean to start an argument, but what are some differences between Gummo and AH (besides the romantic escapism)? I am genuinely interested.
>>79187159
The romantic escapism is a real difference. It is a movie that aims to have the main character go through a journey of personal growth and self-discovery. This is a massive cliche and is really not necessary in a movie with a setting that speaks for itself. There is no personal growth in Gummo, no love triangle bullshit, no preachy nonsense or exposition dumps courtesy of the fish out of water main character, no genre traps like the firearm. The characters and the setting speak for themselves without all these screenwriting tricks, and that makes it far beyond American Honey.
>>79184693
I couldn't even make it 15 minutes. Degenerate garbage.
>>79184905
same
savin up that tendie money for an escort, though.
>>79187380
>tfw almost have enough for a 2hr session with my domme
>>79187249
I gotcha. I wouldn't say AH has mega-cliche personal growth or is too preachy, but I get what you're saying. It's Gummo for the tumblr crowd.
>>79186918
Lmfao i dont think youve watched fish tank either
Seriously K Y S
>>79187496
I did and the scene at the end where she and her mom dance to Nas is one of the worst things I've ever seen.
>>79186476
UPDATE: Thirty minutes left and this movie is going exactly how I thought it would.
It was O.K.
This is pretty much Tumblr the movie, affirmed by how retarded reviews it has in Letterboxd, Tumblr's film review site.
>>79187496
Fish Tank was fucking shit, much like American Honey
Just finished it. The part where she brought groceries for the junkie and her kids made me cringe, but not nearly as much as when they were all singing to Lady Antebellum.
3/10 I liked the sex scenes because they were nice and long (ostensibly to stretch out the already obscene running time). Also the bear was cute.
>>79184693
literally forced myself to watch it because friend recommended and wanted my opinion, still could not do it... unbearable as hell, boring, with music that makes you hate yourself and anyone around you, one of the worst characters i have ever seen.
>>79189910
I agree but I thought for a new actress the main character was fine.
>>79188642
sure sure
BvS is kino am I fit in yet?
>>79190446
>Oh man he called out a movie I really liked, how will I defend my taste?
>I know!
CAPESHIIIIIIIIIIIIT HAHAHAHA YOU LIKE CAPESHIT HAHAHAHAHAHAHA YOU JUST DON'T GET IT BECAUSE YOU LIKE CAPESHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
>>79190446
>Don't like a shit film.
>You must like capeshit.

Fuck off newfag
>>79190446
BvS(UC) is, in fact, better than American Honey, which is good but a letdown from Arnold, while BvS is a very underrated film.
