I just rewatched the Underworld films recently and came to the conclusion that the series has no direction whatsoever. It's basically the Resident Evil of the Vampire subgenre. I think, the first film, despite its lousy narrative, is still essential VampireCore. The scenes in the Coven are very gothic and cool. Films 4 and 5 has just become Resident Evil. They stopped caring about plot completely.

I'll still go to watch Beckinsale in latex for the last one though.
