can this be a thing?
>>
>>79141440
It was for a time
Anyway, saw Contracted both movies. The story, acting, and characters are all shit. But, the make up and overall body horror is great. Worth a watch if you can fade out the general story.
>>
>>79141440
Why? Horror is dead.
>>
>>79141440
Can you name a more unsettling image in horror movies? I honestly cannot.
>>
>>79141602

Just go play RE7 Biohazard. It's good.
>>
>>79141602
The more you think about it, the creepier it becomes. Especially the fact we only see the face.
>>
>>79141440
Sure, what have you seen recently?
>>
What did everyone make of the Exorcist TV show?

I thought it was largely boring, but saved by some great performances. Captain Howdy and brit priest mainly, but Gina Davis put in a good turn too.

I was reading the book while watching it too, so that one scene from the past was quite cool.

but there are still gems among shit, stuff outside US etc..
>>
>>79141602

original fright night had that terrifying vampire face
>>
I kind of like J Horror, its kind of limited to ghosts and haunted video tapes plus there are some really awful ones, but not all are bad and it's interesting to see horror from another cultural perspective. Dark Water is one of the superior ones. Tag is a real gem despite its feminist bullshit.
>>
What did you guys think of It Follows, meme status aside? I thought the concept was one of the most terrifying in horror in a long, long time but the execution let it down in parts. The decision to stage the last 3 major scenes with the monster in broad daylight (pool, beach, Street) was bizarre to me and seemed to go against one of the most basic and effective rules of horror.
>>
>>79143951
Yeah, loved it the first time i watched it, but the second time i was kinda bored.

Also that scene in the pool felt like a video game boss fight, that was kinda lame
>>
>>79143951
I don't mind the broad daylight, I actually like it
the problem was the weirdness of the rules, why can it pick up their hair, why thro objects at it, stuff like that
they should have written around these things and intentionally left the rules vague
it should have been written with the possibility of the absence of supernatural
>>
>>79141602
>>
>>79144065
Exorcist face is still creepier imo
>>
>>79143538
looks interesting. gonna download (along with some glory hole porn).

also the wailing hardly gets credit here.

If you haven't watched this then you don't know shit about horror
>>
>>79144065
Where's this from?
>>
>>79144065
What?
>>
>>79143951
Loved the soundtrack. The wheelchair scene is one of the most frightening horror scenes in years. Final third of the movie is a huge let down.
>>
>>79144625

Mulholland Drive
>>
>>79143778
Just watched Train to Busan, was a pretty good zombie flick. Excellent visuals.
>>
>>79144279
Especially because you see it for like half a second at most. Cleverly done because you can't absorb any detail and it creates an impression in your head of something malevolent, rather than focussing on the image itself.

Ηανent seen Suspiria, but I did recently watch Inferno and it was nearing so-bad-it's-good levels. I just can't get used to the weird dubbing thing they used to do.
>>
>>79141602
There's that one unsettling as fuck image of a girl, the credits played over it at the end

can't remember the movie though

It's all a dub, anon. Both Italian and English are dubbed over. Spaghetti westerns did the same thing too.
>watching the 2nd of a trilogy before the 1st
I doubt it would had made more sense.
>>
>>79145411
Suspiria is just good. Tho the dubbing shit is in full effect
>>
>>79145516
The shot where you see him from a distance is spookier, his face looks quite unnatural.

Fucking kill yourself faggot.
>>
>>79145516
not that one

it's a blond/ginger girl that's smiling and it looks creepy as all fuck
>>
>>79141602
Some scenes in Under the Skin made me feel more uncomfortable than that or the MHD scene
>>
>>79145820
This desu. I think UTS is very underrated.
>>
take your faggot general back to re ddit
>>
I watched both the Conjuring movies recently. The first had some good spooks and the second one was even better despite being less scary.
I miss horror like that, with its own universe, defined hero protagonists. Ed and Lorraine Warren were turned into interesting dual lead characters braving the paranormal with the power of Christ and it was really entertaining.
>>
>>79141440
No because after awhile you just get the same five people posting the same five things until it slowly dies.
>>
>>79145913
ive seen your reddit boogeymanning faggot shit chasing too many good things off of 4chan over the years.
which is sad because rather than being a good alternative to the shit that is reddit, it makes reddit the only place for people to go and talk about these things.
your tribal bullshit is empowering reddit. and no matter what you say i wont go there anyway, as wont many others, so all you're doing is jewing us out of a decent conversation.
>>
>family moves into haunted house but too poor to leave, ghost mumbles something in latin before leaving but not actually leaving
>long black haired girl haunts family and even though people thought it was defeated it was actually not
These things need to fuck off.
>>
>>79145992
You make it sound like those things are super common
>>
>>79141440
it was, but most horror movies are dogshit so it's not an eternal general like /got/ or /who/
>>
>>79145992
I'm tired of haunting/exorcism/demon horror in general. Would love to see some good existential horror or at least decent monster flick.

I just want a proper Alien sequel that treats Alien as a horror movie. Not sci-fi, not action. Not going through the tired old motions of having someone be facehugged, chestbursted etc. We've seen that. We've done that.
We know how ghosts come to be, yet we dont have to see how every ghost was born in every ghost movie.
The Alien is good enough. An unknowable ghouls from beyond the stars that barely adheres to the laws of science is a good concept that you can take so many places. But they're all stuck in their little formula.
>>
>>79146323
>wanting more sequels
>>
I bought both It Follows and We Are Still Here and never watched them.

Which should I watch first
>>
>>79141440

What movie? It's something that's just randomly spliced in to something right? I forget what it is.
>>
>>79146323
Why though? There's some stuff that could be done with the Alien IP but so much more that could be done with something that new isn't already a forty year old franchise
I still maintain Cameron had the best vision anyway, he knew Alien was too good to just remake it and have the same thing happen again (single alien traps people in a confined space and takes them out one by one until they kill it by some contrivance). Alien 3 tried this and proved retroactively that Aliens being what it was was a good move.
>>
>>79146323
I'll hold my hopes for a few months, then if Covenant doesn't deliver i'll just stick to the first 3 and forget the rest even happened.
>>
>>79144065
fuck you lol
>>
>>79146346
>>79146466
i've thought about it and they're the go-to for space horror films that feature a monster.
you could try to come up with some other monster but alien set the standard, it will be hard to surpass.
and yes, i'd like to see more space dread that features monsters. so why not just use the alien? make it into its own genre, not a franchise.
>>
>>79146565
>alien set the standard, it will be hard to surpass.
Exactly, surpass it anyway, aim for something better or all you're asking for is more of the same or worse
>make it into its own genre, not a franchise.
Several decades too late for that
>>
>>79146073
You got a point. I watched a lot of j-horror, so I guess I kinda forced myself into it.
>>
>>79145982
If you want to talk about a horror movie or a series or whatever thats cool but these retarded fucking faggot generals just turn in to complete bullshit. Any eternal thread be it got or starwars or whatever just draw in the worst people. Fuck you and fuck generals.
>>
>>79146684
all zombie movies, ghost movies etc are more of the same as well, some can still be good.
>>
>>79146773
>some can still be good.
You remember what I said about aiming a little higher?
>>
>>79145982
Looks like your faggot general died, cock sucker.
>>
>>79145563
Fun fact, that's because it was a mask, in the full body scene, they had a male actor wearing a cast of the female actors face, hence why it looks so uncanny.
