It's like the Kim Kardashian's ass "breaking the internet" story. This is how publicity works now. Shills pretending to be independent commentators will rave about a non-story because they've been told to by their employers, who are connected with the subject of the "news story" in some way.

Honestly I always figured it was intentional, but no one expected it to be a big deal, and then it was, and then the "malfunction" story was pushed.
I mean he grabbed a tear-away pad on her chest, and like you said, she had a pastie thing covering up her nipple. Either way, it helped push the cause of government censorship and people gobbled it up hook line and sinker.

it was a huge event in american television history that forever shaped how live television was handled.
>>
>>79139610
>it was a huge event in american television history
Not really, the 24 hour news cycle was just desperate for something besides 9/11 to talk about, and blew it way the fuck out of proportion. Normal every day people weren't talking about it beyond "did you see janet jackson's titty?"
With things like the patriot act being steamrolled through, the discussion about government censorship of the media was a hotbed of contention.
>>
>>79139541
The good old days of /pol/, when /pol/ threads would be way more informed on the breaking news than the mainstream media. Best reporting, best memes, best bants.

I watched the Sydney hostage siege unfold with /pol/ back in 2014 during /pol/ Harbor. The shitposting hordes took a step back when they saw how /pol/, despite the carnage all over the board, was able to identify the terrorist (and his background), the hostages, the precise location, the police tactics, and provide multiple livestreams of the situation (one from 20 feet away), all in one copypasta. While the media was flailing around for any info, we watched police charge the building, amidst flashbangs and gunfire, and bodies being carried out to ambulances.

The /pol/ Harbor raid ended almost immediately after. I like to think moot saw that /pol/ is no joke and put an end to the madness.

I was supposed to go on a trip to Barcelona with my girlfriend, but in the end we decided to change plans and visit her friend in Rome instead. The Germanwings machine that crashed was supposed to be our floght back from Barcelona.

When I saw the news of the crash I nearly fainted. It felt like a near-death experience even though I simply watching the news. Just the thought that it would've been me in the wreckage made me shake.

It's still the best place for breaking news

The Turkish coup on /pol/ was was great, all the turks were able to get the information quicker. Watched Erdogan's plane circle around Turkey on a tracker, reuploaded webms of people getting shot from helicopters, that news station getting invaded and going dark but still recording, getting info that it was a false flag from the fact that his plane was intercepted but wasn't touched

Plus pic related which was kino

All the info was at least 45 minutes behind Sky News (News Corp.)

This is dumb. It was the scale of the attack, not really the fact it was the first. The US saw a lot of terrorism in the 70s also. Kidnappings, hijackings, bombings.

What made 9/11 was symbolic in the sense that a few bad guys could take down the two tallest buildings in New York, blocks away from the financial center of the nation, and kill as many people as they did. Their strike on the Pentagon was also symbolic as their ability to hit us where the greatest military was stationed.

>>
>>79144280

basically, the Seahawks had one of the best runningbacks of the era in their arsenal but chose to pass the ball instead of running the ball.

Not only that, the specific play had Wilson passing the ball to their least used wide receiver.

In Carroll's defense, the Patriot's stacked the box, making it harder for running plays to work. but Lynch is still a massive goal line threat even with the box stacked.

Carroll called for the passing play, but it was the offensive coordinator who called the specific play to Lockette.

if anything, part of the blame should go to Wilson for throwing a bad pass, part should go to Lockette for being unaware, and part of the blame should rest on the OCs shoulder for picking a retarded play.

Malcolm Butler also made an insane play.

>>
>>79145385

>On 3 October 1992, O’Connor appeared on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest. She sang an a cappella version of Bob Marley’s "War", intended as a protest against sexual abuse in the Catholic Church—O’Connor referred to child abuse rather than racism.[37] She then presented a photo of Pope John Paul II to the camera while singing the word "evil", after which she tore the photo into pieces, said "Fight the real enemy", and threw the pieces towards the camera.[38]

>How Kim Kardashian broke the internet with her butt
>Print, radio and TV jumped on the photos and reported the story with breathless excitement, feigning shock and awe. Tweets, likes, shares, comments, Instas and memes came surging forth, a torrent of butt-inspired commentary both delighted and outraged.
>But did we expect it to go global, to become a major story for two weeks running? Or for it to lead a Saturday Night Live segment and become an ongoing discussion on late-night talkshows? Or that, taking up our challenge to #BreakTheInternet, versions of Kim’s behind would turn up on a piñata, a Thanksgiving turkey or Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s Christmas card? Never.
>The thing about popular culture – or “virality” – is that it cannot be fully predicted or manufactured.
>We began with the idea of creating a conceptual art project for our art issue. Thanks to the creative team, led by Drew Elliott and Mickey Boardman, Kardashian and Goude came on board, game to take on the hyperbolic mandate “#BreakTheInternet”.
>Behind the scenes, we were mobilising the troops, adding servers to handle the anticipated online surge and lining our ducks in a row for the social media campaign.
