I think 90% of anons on /tv/ has never used a VCR
Am i wrong?
90% of /tv/ don't even remember the days of pre-Blu-ray. DVDs
>>79126729
I still have a working one
I had them when I was a kid. It's amazing how shitty the quality was if you look at them now.
>>79126729
>am I wrong?
Yes
>tfw have used betamax and laserdiscs
>>79126729
What's a VCR?
>>79126729
probably. My uncle always gave me unmarked vcr tapes with pretty new movies on it. Have no idea how he did it. but I still have the iron giant lying around somewhere.
>>79126729
I have one of them, I love playing Super Mario 2 on it
>>79126729
my uncle had ALL the 80s 90s action movies, I wached commando 15 times growing up. then I discovered predator & the thing much later. watching a movie without knowing anything about it was a blessing, now kids will always check social media to know what to think of a movie..
>>79126729
What's the average age here?
>>79126729
Yes
My cousins are between 8 and 14 and they get babysat around countless houses including ours and they gat sat in front of the same tapes I watched and my other cousins just because that shits already there if their parents don't still have a vcr their grandparents probably do. Maybe not but they're almost certain to have seen a vcr somewhere school even.
Music cassettes might be a different story.

>there are people on /tv/ now who were born when i bought my first DVD player (1999)
wew lad
>90% of /tv/ has never go to Blockbuster
really make you think
>>79126729
Yes, they're not that old.
>>79127248
I'm 25 and the last time I went to a Blockbuster was six years ago. This is wrong.
How old are you?
https://strawpoll.com/xs27zag
>>79127290
>I'm 25
Fucking underage
>>79126729
Most people over 20 used one I'd imagine. We didn't get a dvd player until I was 12, and I'm 27 now. I'm fairly sure the average age is over 20.
>>79127192
>now anons will always check /tv/ to know what to think of a movie..
Fixed.
I remember being blown away by the fact that DVD's didn't have to be rewound. I had so many (Disney) movies on VHS, and I watched them all the time. Then I switched over to watching DVD's on my PS2.
>>79127081
We had a VCC at home.
Everyone here was born into a family with a VCR player OP. It wasn't that long ago you fucking fetus
>>79128097
This.
Op is a fucking child if he believes this
I lived on VCR time but my boring ass parents didn't ever rent any movies so they didn't even have a recorder. Only thing they ever watched was news and some soap opera shit
>>79126729
>tfw in the 10%
>CLACKKLANGALANG
>.....
>bbbzzzztttt. CLACK CLACK
>.....
>CLACKshshshsh
remember it like it was yesterday.
How old is too old to still be browsing /tv/?
Tfw 30
>>79126729
I never returned even one tape to the rental store without rewinding. I was a good boy.
>>79128197
>"Hi. I'd like a copy of Home Alone and Lord Of The Flies. Also, do you have any Vaseline?"
>>79128211
Time to grow up.
>>79128205
I remember going to the video rental shop and dad let me browse the movies while he went to a room behind a cutrain that had porn movies.
I still use one. I've been slowly building up a collection of widescreen tapes.
>>79127248
I remember when i was young me and my dad would go to blockbuster every friday and pick out a movie to watch. I feel like that is really what started my love of movies. I know i know inb4 "nice diary faggot" etc etc. But thats what blockbuster always reminds me of.
My dad is old now i wonder if he even knows the impact that simple gesture had on my life. I wonder if any father knows how easily they can shape their childrens entire lives.
>>79126729
I still use my VCR never owed 1 DVD or blu-rays *lies*
>>79127248
Give it another 10 or 15 years and VR video stores might make a comeback.
>>79126729
i don't think most people here even remember the HD DVD vs Bluray battle
>>79128313
>buy/rent tape
>it's a pan&scan of an already small-format recording
Fuck those tapes. Gave me claustrophobic feelings just watching people talking to eachother with the backs of their heads cut off.
>mfw people voluntarily do it even today, because they "didn't buy an expensive widescreen tv to have black bars"
>>79127248
>ywn again go to bb on a friday night when your parents let you rent the new n64 game
Where did it all go wrong?
>>79126729
90% of anons on /tv/ (and 4chan for that matter) are between 15-20, so you're not wrong.
