Well, that depends on what kind of movie I am making. If it's a thriller or a horror movie, I would depict him as having taken control or having influence of a person/group of people. Movies like The Exorcist have shown that the influence and intangible power of the devil is much scarier than a big red dude.

If I am writing a drama, I would make him a well-dressed man who is an unstoppable psychopath, but only shows this after the protagonist decides not to help him out/side with the devil.

If I am making a family movie with a spooky twist (think Beetleguise or The Goonies) I would make him the bad guy that a ragtag band of kids have to outwit, and I would make him actually really scary, so that there is that moment where all the kids cover their eyes when he appears. Years later, tons of adolescents and adults would talk about "that fucking horrifying devil from that movie that is supposed to be for kids".
