>>79103518
>female
>>79103545
Sara Connor. She's not sure Mary Sue who gets away with being a bad assume women who don't need no man. She struggles with losing her love, puts herself at risk for her child, and stood up to terminators and whatever else was thrown at her. She wasn't invincible and often fucked up. However, she actually still feels like a woman, not just another action hero woman who could just be another male character but with a vagina. She exhibits all the weaknesses of a woman, but still fights through anyway.

Excellent answer.
behold, the strongest female character of all time, Alice from Resident Evil
>doesn't have a chip on her shoulder about being female or lord it over others that she's a competent woman, respects her male allies and hates her male villains for being villains, not male
>isn't just a stoic loner male badass in a female body like most female action heroes, is very compassionate and cares about others emotional well being and overcomes obstacles by making allies this way
>despite attempts to manipulate her she has more agency than most male action heroes who are usually following a commanders orders or responding to grievances done to them by the villain, the plot drives forward because of her decisions on how to best survive a given situation
>blows the bechdel test out of the water, the main relationship in each movie is between her and a female friend
>her sex life and love life are never addressed, but her womanhood is still featured, she becomes a surrogate mother at several points
>she never has to seduce a man, her male allies follow her out of respect for her abilities and character and villains are outwitted in other ways
>isn't immune from being targeted for sexual attack in her violent situation, but doesn't dwell on it and treats it as any other kind of attempted assault
>but the main male villains are not sexually obsessed with her and don't care what gender she is, they would still be enemies if she were male
>fights against both men and women, isn't relegated to only fighting other women because you can't show a man hitting her
>can only overcome men in physical fights after being augmented with supernatural abilities, not just unrealistically naturally stronger than men
>the main character of a franchise that's made almost a billion dollars that started in 2002, while DC and Marvel have only just had the balls to make female lead superhero movies
>anything you could claim is objectifying about her character is literally the lead actresses idea or design

This. It's dumb when people hold up Sarah Connor as some kind of Schwarzenegger-equivalent badass action hero when the character has surprising depth and flaws. Yeah, she's tough and capable, but she's also seriously fucked up from what happened in the first movie and has a ton of baggage. My favorite scene is when she's kicking ass on her way out of the hospital, but when Arnold comes walking out she shrieks, falls down, and scrabbles away like a helpless child because her worst nightmare just stepped out in front of her.
>Alien (1979)
>Female protagonist acts as the voice of reason by refusing to allow a potentially infected crewmate back onto the ship
>Male antagonist overrides her and allows it, getting everyone killed
>Prometheus (2012)
>Female protagonist wants to take the infected crewmember back on the ship
>Female antagonist refuses
Wew.

>Alien (1979)
>Female protagonist
Serious question: is Ripley really established as the protagonist at that point in the movie? I knew that Ripley was a main character before I saw any of the Alien films, but thinking back to the first one, I'm not sure she gets a particular amount of screen time by that point. The story certainly isn't following her specifically.
she tried
>>79106305
There's no real main character up until the end.
>>79106599
I can't remember anything she did in the movie other than stealing something in the beginning and shooting Bane at the end.
