Great movie but there are some really stupid parts in it, like the whole "love is da only thing that transcends space and time". blehhhhhhhhhhhh

Only retards thought it was actually a real thing. It's a fucking Nolan movie. If you can't understand the actual message he pretty badly tried to be discrete with you're a fucking moron.

TFA was good.

first part was 6/10, generic but not bad

second part was 2/10, DUDE LOVE TRANSCENDED ME INTO A BOOKSHELF IN SPACE AND BACK IN TIME LMAO

overall 4/10, what you would expect from a hack like nolan trying to be deep

They explain in the movie that the library in space was 4th dimensional beings illustrating a tesseract in the 3rd dimension.

Except love did matter. Love is the connection humans have with one another and it's what allowed Coop to communicate the data to his daughter. He understood her in a way that was only possible with love.

It's not like the movie ended with a Care-Bear Stare.

why is this a bad thing? not everything should be about gritty dark realism of your miserable life

>>
why didn't they just send the robot down to the water planet?
>>
>>79072571
I can agree with that. There are two major problems that I have to actually try to ignore to enjoy it. First and most obviously is that it is a carbon copy of ANH. Second, Starkiller Base is retarded and could have been so easily fixed if only JJ had a shred of respect for movies.

Dude, what? Ghosts don't exist, the bulk beings had obviously knew the wormhole would be useful to humanity, the bulk beings knew what they were providing humanity was enough for humanity to survive, and she knew the bulk beings had no reason to create anomalies in that room after Coop left. There was only one sapient being in the universe that had any interest in that room and was off Earth doing 5th dimensional stuff and that was her father. What information could her father be trying to send via the watch so many years later? The quantum data.

It's supposition on her part but not illogical.

>>
>>79073094
This, his dialogues have always been bad, too much exposition, as if the characters know we're watching them.
>>
>>79073047
They WERE professional though, right up until people started dying.
>>
>>79076182
If characters in movies didn't speak their mind more than the average person does then the audience wouldn't know what is going on. Humans don't usually wear their thoughts on sleeves but movie characters often do in order to communicate to the audience the scope of what is going on.

If it's the only place in the universe that humans can breath then it's perfectly habitable. Maybe even more than habitable because humans can spend a relatively short period of time there while millions of years go by on Earth, making it habitable again.

>Alien

Aliens is a superior film to Alien. Alien is amazing yes, but just comes off a bit outdated. As a horror it simply does not hold up today, it's predictable, straightforward, and the xenomorph, while really awesome, isn't particularly scary. Aliens on the other hand is still a really entertaining action movie, and in hindsight achieves its purpose much more than Alien.

>Jaws

Jaws isn't particularly great either for a similar reason. It's not very scary, quite predictable and almost corny at times, it's pay off is not good enough to warrant it's slow pacing. Might have been cool in the 1970's, but today almost any given shark documentary is more interesting than this.

Not controversial really, but just undeniable shit-tier:

>Fast Times at Ridgemont High
I don't know why so many people recommend this, had very little plot and not enough interesting characters/setting/cinematography to hold it up. Very unmemorable and lifeless, only watched it a few months ago and can't remember anything about it other than a sunburnt Sean Penn making retarded faces.

>Grindhouse Presents: Death Proof

Tarantino's dull try-hard film. While Rodriguez' Planet Terror was really fun and enjoyable to watch, this movie fixated to much on trying to capture the B-Movie exploitation film setting, while forgetting to actually make a movie. Had no interesting plot or characters, 90% of the movie was boring edgy conversation that led-nowhere.

Inb4 >it was intentionally shit.

No, it was just shit. The only good scenes were the 3 minutes with Kurt Russel in them and the lap dance scene.

It's just a household name to exploit. The messages are out of touch with the present zeitgeist. Their value during Lovecraft's era had a lot to do with the increasing realization of how insignificant humanity was in the grand scheme of things. We've known our insignificance for awhile now and relatively come to grips with it. Our era is more defined by the increasing realization of how we ARE significant.

>Doyle just fucking standing there and not trying to get Brand back in sooner
>Doyle just fucking standing there for a second, watching as the giant wave is about to hit everyone instead of MOVING
>Brand's stupidity killing off Doyle indirectly
>>
>>79085197
1) I think the explanation is to save time the ship dropped the shuttle very far from the planet such that they didn't have time to even look at it from orbit.
2) I don't think Brand saw the wave. She just thought Cooper wanted her to abandon the data module because he was obsessed with getting home.
3+4+5) Doyle was trying to be noble or some shit and waiting until everyone else was in. And that's the point. They all could have done so much better but didn't because they weren't qualified or trained properly.

I love The Dark Knight, but get some fucking standards, for once. Interstellar is nothing more but yet another Nolan's self indulging pretentious turd, this time wanting to be Kubrick so fucking hard, it was quite laughable. Maybe if he knew to write scripts, and had subtlety, instead of cramming each scene with expositional dialogue, he'd be worth a damn. Ville is a better Nolan.

Going to catch a lot of flak for it, even though I like ED 1 and it's one of my favorite horror films of all time, with my recent re;watch of the remake, I started liking it more and I'd even go as for as to say that it is the best ED film.

>>79087169
Even visually, it's dull and uninteresting.
>>
>>79087133
>pretentious
Every time /tv/ uses that word it ends up being a great film. It's almost as if low brow fags throw that word out every time they find something too high brow for them.

>too much exposition
And yet lots of people still can't understand the film. One apparently can't please everyone. Just saying.
>>
>>79087320
Just because your run of the mill Nolan fan is retarded, doesn't mean the rest is. He has potential, yet he fails to utilize it with each film he does. He really needs to start showing the film's themes through the visuals, as is intended, and not through exposition. It would work wonders for him.
>>
>>79087410
I don't know how you can communicate general relativity with visuals.

If you have any examples on mind of ways you think something Nolan explained with exposition could have been explained visually then please share.
>>
>>79087567
Kubrick's 2001 is mostly visuals. If he's not going to do it through the visuals, at least make the dialogue more subtle and develop your charaters, so we don't end up with another Inception.
