Some of these aren't bad picks in general, but one of the great things about Lynch's Dune was that most of the cast were literally who's, so instead of seeing (((famous actor))) and their familiar acting traits, you instead see more of the character they are playing. It is far more difficult to attempt this, you really have to be hooked into the small time acting talent scene via theater or other venues, but when it works it could pay off big time and give the movie a very fresh and other worldly feel.

Due to the Bene Gesserit, many characters are mixed race anyway. I'm not a tokenism proponent, but some characters, Duncan especially, should reflect this.
