Is it last weeek already?
HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
HE'S THE BRETT RATNER OF /kino/
>>79006658
It's funny because Ridley Scott dropped Dune to make Blade Runner
>>79006658
i'm ok with this
oh my GAAAAWWWD
>>79006658
is Junglejimrowski going to be involved in any way?
ITS HAPPENING.
Great now I have a reason to live for another couple of years.
Yay!
>>79006869
obviously he won't work with a Hollywood studio unless he's given full creative work which will never happen
Damn, Villeneuve is having a huge surge right now
>Directed blade runner and will do Dune.
Do I dare say he is /our director/
>>79006701
>BRETT RATNER
hurcules was great
>>79007101
No, he's a studio's bitch at this point
> give me a few bucks and i gonna make another sci fi reboot for you
>>79007231
maybe the guy just loves sci-fi and wants to do right what others did wrong?
>>79006658
It says 'Dune Series' does that mean we might get to see God Emperor eventually? Would it even work on screen?
>>79006658
>mfw the first normie friend to it a Game of Thrones ripoff.
>>79007370
if its a series they can't really hide that paul and his space arab friends go and kill literal billions
Paul Atreides: James Franco

>>79008407
>Opening scene is Paul and Jessica being chased through the desert by a sandworm
>Paul loses his footing and falls
>*Record scratch*
>"You're probably wondering how I got in this mess"
>>79007370
>Would it even work on screen?
Imagine My Dinner with Andre, only Andre is a 7 meter tall worm with a human face.
oh no this hack again, stop it with this dennis villeneuve meme (((hollywood)))
>>79008407

As much as I want to be happy there's no way they can make a good Dune movie unless they can split it into parts. The first book alone is way too much for one movie, even if it was 3 hours long
>>79006869
Hopefully not, the documentary about his vision for Dune sounded nothing like Dune.
>>79007474
Those billions were killed for the greater good. Muad'Dib saw that conflict was inevitable so he did what would settle the conflicts with the least amount of time and lives lost.
Killing billions to secure a benign empire > letting thousands of billions carry on a war against Dune for forever.
>>79010073
If they split up The Hobbit for more shekels and "muh franchise," I'm sure they'll do the same for Dune.
If not, Hollywood confirmed for retarded... or the studio behind this one, anyway.
>>79010073
Nah, given 4 hours they could adapt shit easily
Hour 1- Arrival on Arrakis
Hour 2- Betrayal of Yueh
Hour 3- Fremen Training
Hour 4- That Shit At The End
>>79006658
>applying Fincher-style directing to B-grade scripts
Does this actually work?
That's his entire MO...
>>79010073
>>79010393
It's like you people haven't seen the 5 episode Syfy Dune mini-series.
You should, it's a great adaptation given the limited budget.
>>79010393
I'll be very surprised indeed if they actually make a 4 hour long movie in 2017.
>>79010036
Paul Atreides: Andrew Garfield
Kys
Dune is stupid, sage
>>79006658
Everything I know about Dune is from the Westwood games. How much does that prepare me for reading the books?
Novels are usually a snorefest for me but I'm kind of interested in learning more about pic related. Based faction house.
Post the picture with dream cast. I can't fuckin find it.
>>79010597
Dune is to soft sci-fi what Lord of the Rings is to high fantasy, it's influenced everything from Star Wars to Warhammer 40k.
Absolutely amazing book series, re-reading God-Emperor now.
>>79010597
We see you. It was a good attempt.
>Here's your (((you)))
>>79010523
at least he can act, desu I can't think of anyone else that would do real justice to the role. When I read the books, I never pictured Paul as being very tall.
>>79010597
Also, the Ordos don't even exist in the books. Still the GOAT Sci-Fi series though, and I say that as someone who started exactly the same way as you loving Battle For Dune and the Ordos in particular.
>>79010523
on second thought, maybe this guy, Brenton Thwaites, but they're both too old, you'd need a fresh face to play Paul, because in the first book he was just a teenager.
>>79010484
>it's a great adaptation
great but children > dune, imo.
>>79010956
Nah, books were worse and the adaptation is worse as a result.
I just want to see God Emperor adapted on big screen.
We already have two okay-ish adaptations of Dune, why the fuck is there a need for another one?
>>79011073
we already have Trump
Currently reading the series right now. Can somebody give me a quick power rankings of the books. Currently on the second and want to know if things get better/worse from here
>>79012902
Never EVER go past the first three.
>>79012902
God Emperor = Dune > Children > Messiah Heretics > Chapterhouse
>>79012902
God Emperor > Dune > Children > Chapterhouse > Heretics > Messiah
But Honestly, after God Emperor and Dune, all the other books are pretty much equal
I'm kind of disappointed by this news. Fake Dune reboot threads were one of my favorite /tv/ memes, and now that it's real I'll have to wait like 15 years before fake Dune news becomes a thing again.
>remake
fuck off
>>79007231
>implying Dune will be made for a normies audience
It won't and can't. I hope he decides to make it like the book and doesn't choose for it to be a 2 hour flick.
>>79012988
>hating God-emperor of Dune
You are such a little bitch
In today's PC climate, a Dune movie would blow Star Wars out of the water, if done well.
Dune has always been better than Star Wars. Star Wars is the childish self-indulgence of ancient tropes, but Frank Herbert had a real life and career before writing. he wrote for Nixon. He knew the dangers of demagoguery.
I will say one thing about Denis Villeneuve. He can tap into the cruelty that lies at the heart of Dune.
But any director or screenwriter would have to make major concessions for a Dune movie. There are too many characters, too many POV scenes, too much internal monologue, and the screenplay would have to organically introduce a viewer to the complex world of Dune, preferably in a way that doesn't have princess irulan babble at you for five minutes.
I hope Brian Herbert stays a fringe element in the production of his movie, because his contribution to the Dune Universe has been the schlockiest pulp that de-mystified that magical.
>>79016342
>preferably in a way that doesn't have princess irulan babble at you for five minutes.
but that was my favorite scene
>>79016454
It wasn't enough for the normies
>>79010745
Wasn't he like 18?
>>79016602
15 at the start
>>79010745
He should be scrawny, Fremen are water-starved. Feyd should be burly and muscular.
>>79013054
>>79013350
Thanks guess I'll rush through the second book even if it is pretty boring. I'm kinda excited for God Emperor
>>79016342
What sucks is chances are it will he made for the normie crowd and they think it will be the Star Wars killer. If they make Dune to appeal to normie a there is no way it will top Star Wars. I'm hoping they can stick close to the book
It will receive 6.2 on IMDB and 58 on Metacritic. Screencap this.
>>79006658
Pic related for soundtrack
>>79016632
>Feyd should be burly and muscular.
Muscular yes, but not burly. Feyd wears leotard everywhere, I imagine him like an olympic gymnast.
>>79016652
If they GoT with sex and violence, it could work.
Finished reading Dune for the first time last week and watching Lynch movie right now. Now I get why it's considered shit. Nice music and set pieces though
>>79017025
I read the book and still enjoy the movie a great deal, what's wrong with it?
>>79017025
I am a degenerate that loves the book and movie, what's your beef?
I'm fucking hyped bros idc
I still don't understand how did he accept to direct the new Blade Runner, that movie has 3 words in its title, THREE WORDS.
>>79013350
Messiah last? Really? I get that some people don't really like it, but lower than Chapterhouse and Heretics is absurd.
>>79017587
They're just mad that their ubermensch is dethroned and deconstructed.
>>79010036
>Baron Harkonnen: John Goodman
>not Brendan Gleeson
What are you doing, anon?
>>79012902
Read the first two. They represent a self-contained story arc and are the best of the series.
If you like it, read three and four as well. But be ready for things to get fucking weird and philosophical.
Never read past the fourth book.
>>79012902
Read Dune and Dune Messiah.
If after that you want more read Children of Dune.
If at the end of Children you want to know more, read God Emperor of Dune.
If after God Emperor you REALLY like the universe and want more even if it gets really weird go ahead and read Heretics and Chapterhouse.
who /rapethebride/ here?
