What production costs? Aside from renting their warehouse?

You also have to factor in youtube ad revenue, merchandise sales, commentary track sales, and embedded ads on their site. They probably make around $30k a month all together.

>Get a marketable concept for an action movie

Your wrong on multiple accounts.
First of all you're gonna get almost nothing when you retire in most western countries unless you directly pay for a pension fund while you're working, and there's nothing preventing youtubers from doing that..
Second of all, being an online "content producer" counts as an actual job in most countries as well (plus Amazon is your actual official employer if you're a partnered twitch streamer), and you have to pay taxes and everything else you would if you had a generic normal job.
>>
>>79002293

You fuckers just made me do math.

RLM has been on YT since late September 2007. So we're looking at 112 months of them doing their thing. In that time, they've had 176,656,690 views. I know that their earlier stuff isn't going to have as many views as their newer videos, but an average of x views per month would still be a great place to start

1577291.875 views per month. 1,577,292 views per month, rounded up.

They probably earn about $8 per 1000 views in ad revenue, so that's $12618.34 that they earn each month, on the average.

Youtube takes 45% right off the top, leaving them with $6940.08.

The IRS is going to step in and take their chunk, too. Even so, at most, you're looking at about $22K that they get in revenue from Patreon and Youtube. So, after all of their production costs and rent (probably close to $2 per square foot and a minimum of 2500 square feet, so around $5K per month), they're going to get around $4K to $5K per month, each, at best.

Not exactly rolling in the money at that point.

I would expect that Jay, Mike, and Rich earn around $50K to $60K per year, before taxes, which isn't horrible for that area. Milwaukee has an average household income of about $40K. But still, it's not like they're living high on the hog.

You can find out exactly how much RLM reported to IRS as income last year by requesting a copy of their annual report from the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.

The fee is $5.

>>79002779
They had to pay for Space Cop, though. That's why it took 12 years to make (HA HA HA). Aside from that initial burst of sales, have they made much more off of it? If they had clever Hollywood accountants, they could write it off as a loss, declare bankruptcy and it'd be like they won the lottery.

I still wouldn't consider them to be rolling in the dough. If they set up their own studio space, cut out paying rent, and instead rented out their newly owned space to other local filmmakers, then that'd probably reduce their overhead.

But of course, all of that pales in comparison to those dirty Marvel Studios paychecks. Fucking sell-outs.

When I was a teen I worked with people who survived on $1,400 a month
>>
>>79003054
I know you're memeing but the first batch of Space Cop dvds sold out
>>

editing i guess

probably fairly simple for a hitb or re:view but a best/wheel of the worst must be pretty time consuming considering there's around 4 and a half hours of just film footage, plus their reactions, plus the intros, plus their discussion...
>>
>>79003116
Hey, I pull in a six-figure salary. I don't have a lot of time to screw around on internet shit.
>>
>>79003165
true true, i'm getting tired thinking about all that hard work, they'd have to put in 2-3 hours a day for a week maybe, backbreaking
>>
>>79003211
shut up, commie scum
>>
That barely pays for the pizza rolls!

Final Cut Pro X is only $300.
>>
>>79003478
>$300
per month?!?
>>
>>79003518
One time. It used to be $1000 back when it was Final Cut Pro.
>>
>>79003478
They use Premiere Pro and After Effects now.

They're paying $140/mo ($70 per person for businesses) for Adobe Creative Cloud.
>>
>>79003571
I know they used to use FCP7 and they use iMacs (Ben Hurt video). FCPX would be sufficient for them; I'm surprised they would switch given the cost difference. (FCPX probably performs faster on macOS too.)

Yeah but there are two of them, and they both enjoy editing.

It would be understandable if RLM was just a part time gig they did in their free time for shits and giggles, but it's not.

Even if the BTOW take longer to edit, they should be pumping out Half in the Bag like crazy. With Re:View they don't even have to go to the theatres.

15 grand a month for 4 videos all under an hour.

I only just discovered yesterday that "half in the bag" is a term to signify when someone is drunk.

Because the permavirgin autists that obsess over RLM know that they themselves are not charismatic or likeable enough to gain a following talking about movies and will have to continue working some soul-crushing job for the rest of their lives, so the jealousy and bitterness sets in and they spend their days shitposting on /tv/.
>>
>>79002516
>government considers activity that generates income as employment
Astonishing!
>>
>>79000213
>being this naive

Jay, Mike and Rich probably average $40k a year after everything's said and done. Patreon donations fluctuate.
>>
>>78999705

>>
>>79009363
Well, I think it is.

>>

If only you were capable of actually going to their Patreon page to find out for sure. But I guess that's just not a possibility, unfortunately for all of us.
