The BBC still produces plenty of worthwhile content both on radio and tv, you just aren't looking hard enough.

Right at this moment there's a great documentary about a cult where 3 women were held in captivity for years, one about Francis Bacon and a series about Italian cities which covers things I never knew. There's another one about debunking myths about the Tudors I have yet to see also. No other network so regularly produces great factual content.
