How was this? It's actually primed for a theatrical release in my country despite only a very limited amount of Scandinavian movies reaching our shores.
The title roughly translates to "kings no", right?
Hans Petter Moland + Stellan Skarsgård = automatic kino.

It's very a very good war drama about what the King of Norway went through during the first three days of WWII.
The English title is "The King's Choice" referring to his choice of whether or not to surrender his country to the Germans.

Oh, that sounds like an interesting premise. Thanks Anon, I'll go check it out then.
Nolan remade this for some reason.
In terms of acting:
>Norway > Denmark > Sweden
In terms of writing:
>Denmark > Norway > Sweden
In terms of kinography:
>Norway > Sweden > Denmark
In terms of soundtrack and score:
>Sweden > Denmark > Norway
In terms of award-bait:
>Denmark > Norway > Sweden
8/10, would watch again

I hope you enjoy it. It's a little special for me since a lot of it happened close to where I live. What country do you live in?
What's the best movies from the Scandilands?
Assume I've never seen a Scandinavian movie and you may present one movie from each of the three Scandi-countries.
A Cold War era thriller set mostly in the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.

Australia. You can probably piece together why not many movies get here all the way from Norway. Still, it'll be fun getting to see the portrayal of the second world war from the eyes of a smaller country.

It's nice to know that some movies make it all the way down there.
This one seems to be one of the most popular Norwegian movies in Australia. It's a Spinal Tap-ish mockumentary about a boyband.

Yeah I've seen that! Surprisingly entertaining if not terribly well-acted. Think my sister owns the VHS to this day.
This is a good drama about a father who """kidnaps""" his own daughter from her hysterical mother and goes on the run, but it's very obscure and can be hard to find.
i like winters light and pusher series
pretty pleb but whatever

Kim bodnia is a great actor, eventhough he almost always play the same role. Have you seen the green butcher and old men in new cars?

>It's a little special for me since a lot of it happened close to where I live.

"Shipwrecked" is the international title

Top scandi movies i've liked are let the right one in, the hunt, hunters and force majeure
The Hunt
Pusher
In China They Eat Dogs
Old Men In New Cars
Flickering Lights
I'm a Dane but rarely watch Scandinavian film.
