The Silmarillion is only a matter of time right?

I'm 85% sure it'll be unremarkable. Jackson lost his way and gave in to the CGI, and I can't think of anyone else who could pull it off, even in televised form. It's already a challenge to convey given its format.
Best I'd say is a Netflix deal that gets some initial watch value from the Tolkien name but is ultimately given middling reviews.
dont you 15-25 year olds already have enough shallow action movies?

The only things that have good adaptions are things with good stories. Lord of the Rings was a goods story. The Silmarillion is "dude lore lmao". It's guaranteed to be shit.

He looks so unhappy. He knows his failing body is the only thing standing between us and more shitty movies and that one day he'll lose.

i thought chris hated him

Have you read it? There's no way to adapt that into a full-length feature fi...
Oh.
>>78899851
Silmarillion is pretty much a collection of short stories. Don't see how you can make a film trilogy out of that
>>78900158
Hollywood will find a way.

It's a shoop, and a pretty cruddy one too. The light on Tolkien is coming from the left, the light on PJ from the right. Fucking amateur.
>>78899851
nope. even after Christophers death the rights are still in the hands of The Tolkien Estate.
>>78900910
This. I don't know much about Adam Tolkien, but if he's anything like his dad, the rights will remain firmly locked up.

The same way they turned a 300 page book into 3 2hr long films excluding extended edition scenes like so.
Silmarillion is so vague and not particularly fleshed out you could add anything and it'd be fine.
I personally want a film about Glorfindel, raping shit up since he's like one of the most powerful people alive at the time.

Not possible. They become public property in UK in 40 years or so. There is only so long you can lock shit up. The only way he can protect it for longer is if he adds to it.
>>78901070
What the fuck how do those things even work
>>78899932
What? Netflix should make the silmarillion? This is the worst idea I've heard, I'd rather have Jackson.
>>78901070
what the actual fuck am i looking at?
was that in the movie and i just repressed the memory?
Just keep Pete away from the middle earth adaptations.
The hobbit was ridiculous. Insane to think the same man made LOTR.
