For the thousandth time, it's fine. There are however better options like mpc-hc or mpv. vlc is normie friendly which is why its so popular. But at a technical standpoint mpc-hc and mpv are better choices to get the best playback.

Here's the solution: install BOTH mpc-hc and VLC, and just use VLC when mpc-hc gives you trouble.

VLC does tend to have issues (i cant seem to avoid frame pacing issues, ie judder/lag) but it's EASY. Best 2nd alternative player.
