Who is really going to defend King's Landing now when I think about it? Jaime is in Rivverun, probably won't go out of his dislike for Cersei but might due to his love for Tommen. ok I called you an autist earlier but agree i with this criticism actually. the years long seasons in ASOIAF are truly pointless because grrm does absolutely nothing with the concept. Its a pretty 'normal' medieval society and the seasons impact nothing. Its not about the scientific logistics is about setting something like this up in a fantasy world and then going absolutely nowhere with it.

To say he does nothing with the concept is wrong, the long winter clearly affected the culture of Westeros and people are afraid of something like that happening again. From a realistic standpoint yeah, it makes little sense that you'd have such a huge, population of humans (much less animals) after all of that, but he often gets "little" things wrong because he needs the plot to move forward. It's a fuck up but you have to be willing to forgive some errors.

After all a recurring element in the books is that the average person doesn't give a shit about the larger picture and will just keep moving on and put little thought into the past (or impending future) no matter how dire it was/will be.

Besides, from where we start off in the books the seasons had been mild for a very long time so, in keeping with the point above, people wouldn't sit around thinking about it.

It should also be noted that Europe did bounce back relatively quickly after the Black Death which also took a massive human toll so maybe was awkwardly trying to refer to that.
