Those figures are exaggerated. They always inflate projected numbers opening week. See Ghostbabiesbtfo.

lmao that doesn't mean it's going to make 100 million everyday. For these sort of event movies, opening days are always the biggest. There is no question it is going to be a huge hit. It's a forgone conclusion. It's over. But it better make well over 500 million.

Literally every movie is spoiled by the trailer, "accidentally" leaked scripts and internet sleuths already Day 1. Even if you avoid the web you are guaranteed to hear it from someone in meatspace anyway.
>>
you are dead wrong about the 200m marketing budget

let me explain. online marketing was 30% of the budget compared to traditionally 10% and its considerably cheaper. also, disney owns espn and the abc families to which they leverage their deals for television ads. disney pays considerably less than other studios to market their own films

Films this size usually do 3 times their opening weekend domestic, and same again international, if not more.

This is looking to do 150 mil opening weekend domestic.

This is doing 900 easy.

>200 mil budget
>200 mil marketing
>400 mil

Disney take home half the box office roughly, they have a 100 mil in the bank plus the billions in merchandise and licensing.

Sounds Breddy Gud To Me.

>>
>>77357079
Dummy.
>>
>>77355921

They are predicting a little less than Iron Man 3.

Iron Man 3 made 1.25 bil.

It's going to open about 25 mil less. Also China did over a 100 mil for Iron Man 3.

It's gonna be around the 900/Billion mark.

Provided people like it. It's got the same cinemascore as Iron Man 3, an A, and a similar RT score.
>>
>>77357130
Star Wars Episode 7 really took the crown from Titanic. The box office gross on the Wikipedia page also accounts for the re-release. The original run made less than TFA.

FUG I hope this does well.

I am concerned because I don't want Episode 8 to be a copy of ESB because then Disney may think "the audience prefers remakes like Force Awakens that doesn't take risks" just cos TFA did over a billion.

If Rogue One just makes 400 million or so may be time to kill myself.

Good movies like Rogue One won't be made anymore and just action flick cash grabs like TFA.

Opening weekend isn't done yet, and it's already hit 100 mil? Fuckin' nice.

Notice how the top related article is that it's on track to become one of the top-15 highest-grossing film openings of all time.

Those numbers were from Friday. That means it was only Friday and Thursday sales. Doesn't even include today, since it's not 9 PM on the EST yet.

This thread is literally some assmad fucktoy sperging out over shit again.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if this is just a viral marketing thread.

I'm not going anywhere near this film exactly because of this reason. There is nothing safer than making a tie full of references, connecting the plot. What is even worse is yet again we seem to get more Death Star and the same as before.

The last film could have been the best to date if they cut all of the deadweight of the Fandom and extended universe that is dragging it down so much. If they made a film going back to the whole Samurai/Western in space I would watch.
>>
>>77366232
Not the anon you replied to, but if they did reshooting to rouge one, and it was an almost finish product. It does not seem to distant a reshoot, just look at rouge one trailers, they cut a ton of shit.
>>
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story delivered an estimated $71 million on Friday, including $29 million from Thursday night previews. The question now is to wonder whether this one is going to play along the lines of a Twilight movie and settle in a little over $140 million for the weekend or a little like The Dark Knight Rises which also saw Thursday previews account for 40% of its Friday gross and ended up finishing the weekend at $160.8 million. At this point an opening just shy of $160 million seems a good bet.
>>
>>77355797
>total as of Friday
