He finally gives in to the offers for Lethal Weapon 5.
Both him and Glover have retired, however their kids are both detectives. Glover's kid is now the suicidal one after a tour of Iraq and Gibson's kid is the by-the-book guy.

They're hunting down a drug organisation which turns out to be funding terrorism.
Movie ends with Gibson's kid sending an SOS to his Dad who comes crashing through the building in a car with Glover. Both old and young partners then take out the entire building.
Young Gibson and Glover are fighting the terrorist leader on top of the massive apartment building the Organisation owns.
While Old Gibson and Glover try to find their kids, Glovers shoots a man who was trying to detonate a suicide vest. Glover takes the vest and jokes about how it may become handy. Gibson questions his old partner's radical new behaviour.

They finally find their sons and this provides a distraction for the leader to grab a heavy machine gun and started raining it down on the sons. He notices the crane next to the building and jumps to it so that he can escape.
Old Glover and Gibson look at the explosive vest and both start asking "is it a good idea? Yeah it is isn't it? Boys, what do you think?"
Before the kids comprehend what their intentions were, Gibson and Glover throws the vest at the neck of the crane then detonates it. The entire crane is blown to pieces and falls 25 stories to the ground, destroying several buildings.
Film ends with all 4 staring over the edge at the millions of dollars. Old Gibson says "you two can take this right?", with Glover saying "yeah don't mention this in the report, I don't want to lose my pension".
