no one cares for 2 hour dramatic narratives anymore. those that do consume it like candy. look at the way people react to oscar bait and the "high brow cinema" of today

de palma isn't as good as carruth but people back then were emotionally affected by his films. sure there are some that feel the same way when they watch a carruth or PTA film but they are not even 10% of that de palma audience

the truth is people have moved on from cinema. it has nothing to do with a lack of an attention span. people are just more in tune with the genre of lifestreaming. people are more interested in watching people's lives UNFOLD in REAL TIME. look at how popular bloggers have become over the last few years. next stop is VIRTUAL REALITY LIFESTREAMING

everything is immersive

no one will give a fuck about your shitty protagonist and his shitty arc unless they take part in it like a video game

film as we know it is dead. and just because you liked the latest A24 film or cannes entry doesn't prove otherwise

Damn i actually liked it wtf. Looked like such shit from the trailer but i was pretty decent. Not just 'le funny quips' but actually funn, awkward situations, good, realistic villian that you felt sympathy for, funny humour and some touching moments and just overall full of heart. How can you not like peter.

It felt kinda like Superbad (best teenage movie ever) with suerheroes.

I just hope the bad box office numbers wont make Marvel/Soney try and do something drastic with the sequal because this is defeintly the right directon

Perect watch for a Sunday with hangover.
