Definitely stop by Hallstatt, they have a restaurant on the way called Gasthaus steegwirt, it had some stellar beer and a creek right below our table. (Pic related) and a locally made pine needle ice cream that is the best flavour of ice cream i have ever had, coming from an American.
Also Hallstatt is beautiful too.

You implied distaste for them, and as a person who lives in the best food city on earth (New Orleans) I think that German food is great, it gets old, but it is delicious and the beer is better than any where else on earth. Bratislava is okay but I guarantee you will be underwhelmed coming straight from Vienna. It just doesn't compare. It's good place to check out for a one-day side trip if you're in Vienna alraedy but since your time budget seems tight, I recommend skipping it. Salzburg, as already mentioned ITT, would be a good replacement option.
