I want to go to Hawaii, more specifically Maui. I have about $2500 saved up so I feel confident I can get there and back (roundtrip from NYC). The only problem is what to do in Hawaii, where to go, and what to avoid.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

OP i've been to Maui a few times. Does $2500 include your airfare? Hotel? that amount might be a tad light if you're staying for more than a few days. As for what to do you can't beat renting a snorkel and fins and just exploring. Seriously this is a cheap best bang for your buck activity. look into renting a bike too. avoid whale watch tours, and go check out Paia. Its a small surf town on the north end of the island and you can watch surfers and chill on a beach that isn't too touristy. have fun OP its really hard to have a bad time in Maui

Maui resident here - Make sure you get a rental car, as thats pretty much the only way to get around efficiently. Go on the road to Hana, top of haleakala, and into Iao Valley. If you want to just chill on a beach, south maui (Kihei, Wailea) is where it's at
