I've received an exciting opportunity and will be moving to Rome from Sydney in November for work. I'll be living in Pigneto. Can anyone school me on Rome, I've never been, things to do as someone who has the time and funds to do it properly and over a longer period of time?

Currently sitting at Fiumicino airport after 10 days in Rome.
I have mixed feelings about the city , waking around , the city itself is one huge museum with tons of seights to see and places to be. The people living here though , are lazy as fuck.

OP, don't take advice from a whinging American dumb enough to travel to Rome during peak summer tourist season. If you're serious about moving there, look at the English-language press and ex-pat forums to see how people negotiate life in a city thousands of years old.

I think August is considered a holiday month in Italy, so most locals are on vacation, and the ones that are forced to work because of the tourist industry are hating themselves and everyone else.
Come back in spring.
