I will go to Canada for a year, starting on the first of September in Toronto.
I will do some sort of roadtrip to Vancouver where I will stay over the winter.
Any reccommendations what to do/see in Toronto?
Especially bars and places to meet locals, that are not overrun by tourists, are interesting for me.
Besides this, any tips on what general places in the country I should see on my roadtrip, are welcome too.

>don't forget about southwestern Ontario, we are mostly farmers but its really beautiful this time of year and the food is fucking incredible, we have some of the best crops and yield in the world. places like Stratford and area, Kitchener etc are known for their chefs and restaurants.
> most of the GTA is shit just urban sprawl and Torontonians don't think their shit stinks.
>if you're heading out to Vancouver Island check out Comox and area its fantastic I head out there once a year.
Since this is a canada thread I'm going to ask here too. As an American I'm allowed to go there for six months at a time, is that six months per year? So I have to return for six before I can go back for six?
Personally I'm in love with quebec, the french language barrier keeps out most of the idiots, and the winters kill off the rest.
there isn't much possible variation heading east-west
biggest one is edmonton-jasper or calgary-banff?

In Toronto the downtown west end is the cool area and where you'll want to live. BlogTO has lots of top 10 lists and recommendations. If you are in Canada for a while you should also visit Montreal.
