I loved Singapore but I must have missed those parts.

Bangkok is a really fun city, I think it's underrated actually.

Unfortunately we still have not achieved even close to cyberpunk level. Le sigh.

However, having recently been to Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Beijing, and Hong Kong, I will say that Hong Kong BY FAR is the most cyberpunk.

On the main island you have towering skyscrapers connected via walkways above street level. Even a pleb can feel cool walking above the cars. You have rich business folk walking alongside Chinese peasants. On the weekends, immigrants congregate in cardboard forts (I'm not joking) while rich folk descent from their apartments to shop and drink lattes.

Across the water is even better. At night, the markets come alive with hustlers and neon lights. It feels gritty enough, but not unsafe. In the heart of Mong Kok, huge swarms of people gather around to watch performers and buy greasy food. Some markets are so small that you have to stand shoulder-to-shoulder to walk through.

Singapore? Hardly. Live there, sure it's a "city" but you don't see urban sprawl on the scale that you see in Shenzhen, Tokyo or other Asian metropolises. Barely any cyberpunk vibe.
>>
Manila, though it's heavier on the 'punk' side than any other city mentioned so far.
>>
Definitely Hong Kong. It's the only major east asian city that really has that concrete jungle feel (tiny dirty alleys between scyscrapers, people living in literal boxes, chungking mansions, extremely diverse population). Beijing is too grey and drab, also the climate doesn't fit. Shanghai has some aspects but the general feel is different and tokyo and seoul are way too neat and orderly to create an atmosphere like that.
>>
>>1284115
Gorgeous!
I will add Shanghai and Hong Kong to my 'must see list'.
>>
>>1283939
Manila, and other big cities in Philippines
>>
>>1285187
manila is more bamboopunk than cyberpunk my dude

>>1283939
hk is really the only cyberpunk city anymore. tokyo removed all the neon stuff and is more of a futurecity

bangkok is getting close
some districts the only sidewalk is literally on eleveted platforms like on.some movie

Fuck off with your cyberpunk meme
The best city in the world for futurist architecture is Milan, because it's pure. It may not have a bunch of skyscrapers, but the atmosphere, the transparency, the cleanliness and the finesse have no equals. Literally one of the most underrated cities in the world. I hope it will keep growing like that.
>>
>>1285253
> cleanliness and the finesse
But that isn't cyberpunk.
Besides, your pic looks like Potsdamer Platz or 100 other locations. Meeh.
>>
>>1285259
Why not just go to that one famous building in LA where Blade Runner was filmed, vandalize it, then live there.
>>
>>1285260
You first.
>>
>>1284037
>Bangkok is a really fun city

This...it's better than the rest of Thailand.
>>

Shanghai is way more cyberpunk than HK, if you don't think so then you just didn't see the right areas. It looks like it has a vaporwave instagram filter in some areas.

I know that's not cyberpunk, in fact I oppose that trend in favour of a better model for the future. The new cyberpunk needs to lose its -punk half, becoming something new. Less dirt, more crystal. Dream Catalogue calls it "dreamvapour". Well, Milan is dreamvapour. London may be a good alternative though.

As you surely know, the aesthetic of Blade Runner was inspired largely by Hong Kong.

Kowloon is an entire peninsula, it was not torn down and it remains the most interesting area od HK.

You are thinking of Kowloon Walled City, a small region of dense buildings within the confines of a historic fort, which was torn down and is now a park.
