ITT: places that you thought would be shit that turned out to be great
Pic related I thought Napoli would be dirty and gross but it turned out to be great and I ate pizza all day long and there were actual Italians there.
Also
Las Vegas
glad to hear it, i have Naples high on my list next time I visit Italy...
I'll say Bogota, was expecting big ugly city, what I got was big ugly city that was loads of fun and great people..would do again
"actual Italians there"

Naples is 96% Italian as opposed to Milan or Rome which have a bunch of economic immigrants
Napoli is alright for tourists who just visit the city centre, its bad reputation comes from the shitty and dangerous suburbs (and napoletani behaviour outside their own city, but that's a different matter)
Rural France.

Bangkok. Everyone online warned me about all the scams, ripoffs and robberies, but all I got were great deals on hotels, great food, beautiful womenz (even the ladyboys), and very friendly people. The only rude assholes I met were for the most part white expats, who resent the fact you are there, your existence ruins their fantasy that they are planting some flag.

Most if not all of them desu
Works other way around too
Bangladesh. I was prepared for it to be an even shittier version of India. But it actually was quite nice, dirty but not as bad as India, genuinely friendly people who are just curious about foreigners but don't swarm you to beg for money. And it was even possible to find alcohol even though I was expecting it to be totally dry.
