Go to an Oxygen bar.
It will change your life.

Take the slot challenge, play a slot machine in EVERY single casino.
>>
>>1276918
>EVERY single casino.

On or off the strip?
>>
>>1276916
Freemont Street Experience. It's off the strip, in the old part of Vegas so you have a little old-style degeneracy but thats mostly a facade to the quaint origins of Vegas. It's a pedestrian zone built around the old casinos of the area with a closed-off top that functions as a screen where they play live music/movies on.
>>
What budget hotels are worth it? I don't mind spending more if the quality improves significantly.

Bit worried about fucking it up and getting a shitty experience.

You must be new to travel; you do not go to Las Vegas for "degenerate stuff", it's overpriced and still technically illegal, in other words never worth the cost. The only thing LV offers that you can't find somewhere else would be the high concentration of famous SSBBW porn stars whoring on the side, but you can find regular fat girls anywhere, so why bother?

Enjoy the quirky sights, desert views, and good food, I really like magic shows myself. If you guys are Gen. X maybe go see a 90's boy and perform and feel young again?

Long time /trv/ contributor here

Anyone wanna suggest a smart way to get from airport to Old Vegas? I don't want to rent a car. Are taxis and Uber a rip off there? Is there a bus service that makes more sense? I'm staying in an overpriced motel and there won't be an airport shuttle for that place... any chance I could get in an airport shuttle for a nearby casino?
>I'm guessing no on that last one.

Thanks

Most budget hotels are downtown. This is a different location than the strip. Some decent hotels but be prepared for zombie apocalypse level of vagrancy.
>>
>>1279098
Trouble will find you if you stray too far from Fremont. By too far I mean a block or 2. This applies for daylight as well. Downtown harbors an epic amount of tweakers.
>>
>>1277212
Look, there is some epic bad advice on this thread from idiots who clearly know nothing about Vegas.

Here's the scoop - you don't want to do "budget" in Vegas. If you want to have a good time in Vegas that means the strip, and even the low end strip hotels will be minimum $60-70/night mid week with resort fees. Beers will be $7. A decent cafe meal is $20. Clubs are expensive. Taxis are expensive. Sure, you CAN do Taco Bell and drink PBR, but if you want to do that, just stay at home. Doing Vegas on the cheap is doing it wrong.

Vegas is expensive, period. If you only have a few hundy saved up over and above hotel/air, don't go there. Do a normal vacation somewhere until you can save up enough to at least have a few grand to do Vegas right, or don't do it at all.

If you're still going and you want suggestions from someone who goes 4 times a year and isn't an idiot like the rest of this thread, hit me up.
>>
>>1279098
>>1279611
First of all, no one calls it "old Vegas", it's Downtown, period. If you're worried about safety stick to the Fremont Experience area and the surrounding resorts, and you'll be fine.

The problem with downtown is that unless your primary mission in town is gambling, you'll get bored quickly. The Fremont St. "strip" is a few blocks, not much more...the Strip you've heard of is 4 miles, packed with resorts, bars, restos, etc. You can stay there a month and not run out of things to do. Downtown is a fun day trip to get away from the strip on a multi-day trip, but not much more, unless, again, you are there to gamble then the slots are looser and table minimums are better.
>>
>>1280311
>>1280315
These are both true things, coming from a local.

Don't come to Vegas and spend the whole time downtown or trying to sleep in a shit hotel, thinking you're going to see why people love this city. That's especially true if you don't want to be a "degenerate."

Vegas offers amazing food, amazing resorts, and you should come prepared with a good chunk of money, with maybe a hope to win. No place is more make it or break it on vacation, that I know... but you can come here and see the greatest sights in the world without spending a dime.

Do you like nature? Do you like food? Do you like unique entertainment?

Stay in a nice room, see the never ending stoppage of the city, eat well, and enjoy that you can see a world class act every night.
>>
>>1280319
Well said.

I've said this in other Vegas threads but I'm what I would consider a very low roller and I don't go to town with less than $1K a day to spend.

I'm not much of a gambler anymore (the strip slot machines have gotten noticeably tighter over the last few years), so for me that covers basically whatever I want to eat, whatever I want to drink, $3-400 to throw away in the slots and maybe a show or concert. If I get back to the room at 4AM with any of that grand in my wallet, it's a bonus. And again that's at the low end of what people spend in this town. You can easily blow literally 10's of thousands in a day in town if you're into the "baller" club/party/gambling thing.

So my advice before coming is do the math. You WILL NOT get the full Vegas experience if you go to town trying to clip coupons, eat at Denny's and get the cheapest off-strip shitty Motel 6 because it'll save you 10 bucks a night.

There are plenty of places in the US where you can get by cheaply - Vegas isn't one of them.
>>
>>1280311
Not that guy, but

I have no problem with spending money going to clubs, but I don't see the problem with getting a shitty motel, all I'm gonna do there is sleep.

60-70 a night does not sound bad though, the cheapest motels here in the NYC area still cost more than that. And 7-8 dollars for a Heineken is the norm for clubs here.

That being said, what are some good clubs to go to? It seems like there's so many that it's hard to pick a place to start.

And is there any worthwile nightlife in Las Vegas proper/Downtown or whatever you want to call it? I would guess there are a lot of hot Latinas there.
>>
>>1280342
I don't see why you need to spend a whole thousand dollars

Even though the clubs are expensive there, it doesn't seem like you'd have to spend more than 300 dollars at once
>>
What time do the clubs in Vegas tend to die down/close?
>>
So I know that Vegas is a tourist destination and people are going out every night of the week, but how much different are the clubs on weeknights vs weekends? Are weeknights good for checking out clubs that are overly crowded on weekends?
>>
The local restaurant scene outside of the strip is amazing. Texas de Brasil is a pretty good Brazilian steakhouse, and Kabuto edomae sushi is an omakase restaurant I've heard is pretty damn good.
>>
>>1280311
Booked at Ballys as it was the only place I could sort of afford and have cash to spend. Any thoughts on it?

Heard the Grand Canyon is a bit of a waste of time. Is it? I thought it might be a good day to break up visiting the Strip and see a bit more of America but a whole day on a coach or spending 3 times the amount to do it quicker seems a bit iffy.

Any general tips for first timers from abroad?
Anything which is easy to miss?
>>
>>1280343
Vegas has a lot of Latinas and Asian girls. Like any other group of girls some are hot while others not so much.
>>
>>1280346
Bottle service starts around $400 (for ONE bottle and the table) and goes up from there, best tables can be $5K and up. No, you don't have to have a table, but try keeping a group of friends together in Hakkasan or Omnia with no place to sit in shoulder to shoulder crowds.
>>
>>1280355
They're still pretty crowded, especially during summer months when all the EDM and hip hop guys are touring. You have to keep in mind Vegas is a 7-day party town, you can get just as loose on a Tuesday in the clubs as you can on weekends. WE's bring in a lot of the dickhole LA crowd so it does get busier and douchier, but it still pops on weekdays.
>>
>>1280563
Bally's is low-mid end but fine. If it's not too late get a Jubilee room, they are the most recently renovated and have in-room fridges and many have strip views. Bally's location is great, just north of center strip.

First timer advice: Don't overplan things. No matter what you do you can't do everything you want to do in one trip, there's too many places you'll want to see. Just take it easy and pick a direction for the day then see where you end up. Also the first couple days can be pretty overwhelming, it can be sensory overload for sure. Don't overdo it, work in some pool/nap/downtime.
>>
>>1280343
The top end clubs are Hakkasan, Omnia, XS, Tao, Marquee, Drai's, Surrender. Hottest DJ's, hottest girls, most expensive, hardest to get into. There's a second tier like 1 OAK and Light and others...I would recommend doing your research based on the kind of crowd and music you're looking for. For instance 1 OAK is, shall we say, very ethnic, as opposed to some of the others. All will be popping on weekends.
>>
>>1280657
I'll only be with one person so I'm not worried about losing him

Which brings

>>1280662
I've read about a few of those clubs, I'm interested in Omnia and Drai's in particular. Is it possible to get in for 2 guys with no female company? What's the best way to avoid waiting in line for these kind of places?

Also, is there any lower end but still poppin kind of nightlife around (like the LES or Williamsburg in New York if you're familiar with that)?
>>
>>1280662
I don't mind ethnic, I would say I prefer diverse crowds the most.

I wouldn't want to be in a club with nothing but white douchebags
>>
>>1280746
didn't mean to write that "which brings"
>>
>>1276916
How international is Vegas? Will I be able to go a day without meeting another bong?
>>
>>1280746
If you're 2 guys with no hookups (i.e. promoters or female accompaniment) you'll be waiting an hour or more at best. If you want "lower end but still poppin" that you can actually get into, you may want to go lounges rather than clubs. The Dorsey at Venetian, Clique at Cosmo, Alibi at Aria, Hyde at Bellagio, usually are no cover and have a more relaxed vibe, and you can get a table w/o having to sell your kidney. It's more like a traditional bar though in that the girls are less hot later at night (because they're all at the club) and less likely to blow you. You have to work harder for it.
>>
>>1280774
I'd say it's 65-70% US tourists, a lot of Asians and Indi/Pakis (especially around Xmas) and a decent amount of Brits and Aussies. If you go to Vegas with a Brit/Aussie accent, girls will drop their panties if you're within earshot of them. I fucking hate you guys for that reason but I suppose it's not your fault.
>>
>>1280747

I'm considering moving to Nevada for the weather, cost of living and neighboring landscapes. Moving straight into Vegas seems like and affordable idea so far. I'm not into gambling or clubbing though I don't mind it. I'm more into simple activities and rock concerts, small bar band shows. I'm white but not preppy and did not fit in when I visited LA. Will I feel stranded in Vegas? I'm from Pennsylvania and am sick of the poor country. I just want to live where it's warm and wealthy and I can relax, like I'm 27 and retiring in Vegas the way seniors do in Florida.
>>
>>1280827
Keep in mind that the strip (not technically in Las Vegas) is the super touristy part and the city of Las Vegas is less touristy although still relatively touristy I'm guessing.

You would probably do fine in both with that British accent
>>
>>1280777
I'm guessing the promoters on the street only give offers to chicks?

And I don't mind cover, I just want to be able to get into places without waiting super long. Lounges sound appealing, I'm fine with not being surrounded by nothing but bimbos as long as it's not a complete sausagefest.
>>
>>1280980
They try to get guys to go too, but the guys on the street are usually working for lesser clubs that will be less busy or they will straight scam you. They will sell you "reduced admission" for $20 when you may be able to get in for free. Think about it - if any club they're working for was so amazing would they have to be out hawking it? If you have a good sized group best to work with a reputable promoter or just go through the club itself. If you book far enough ahead they can usually give you a decent hook up.
>>
>>1280976
Then leave.
>>
>>1280980
The lounges I mentioned have a good female to male ratio. The general rule is, the nicer the resort, the safer females feel = the more hotties you'll see. Yeah, if you go hang out in the lounge at the Excalibur you'll see nothing but fat old bald guys in T-shirts, and shame on you for being in there in the first place. Go to bars/lounges at the Wynn, V/P, Cosmo, Aria, Bellagio etc. you'll see plenty of eligible females.

The only caveat to that can be heavy convention weeks, if there's a dentist convention or something at Venetian, then chances are you'll see nothing but fucking dorky male dentists at happy hour at the Dorsey. If that's the case, move on to the next resort.
>>
>>1280978
Honestly I don't hear a lot of good things from locals about Vegas off strip. I talk to a lot of bartenders/servers there and they almost all say they are in Vegas only for the job and they wish they could be elsewhere. I don't get off strip much but from what I see and I hear the rest of Vegas is kind of a wasteland. You might be better off in Arizona or somewhere if heat and relaxation is your thing.
>>
>>1280827
Don't know what business you're in but if you need a fallback and you're not a gargoyle you could get a bartending gig at a high end resort and kill it with that accent, both in tips and girls.
>>

>>
>>1281040
Good points. My standards arent super high but I want to check out a high end club at least one night (maybe on an off night when it's easier to get into).

What's the best club you've been to in Vegas so far?
>>
>>1278248
Assuming you mean downtown, there are shuttle services like Bell Trans that do downtown shuttles - it's inexpensive (around $10 each way not including driver tip) but it means you wait for the shuttle to fill up at the airport, it takes a while to get up there then you probably have to sit through several stops before you get near your resort. It might end up taking you an hour and a half to get somewhere that could be 20 minutes in a taxi or Uber. You're on vacation in Vegas for fuck's sake, quit worrying about saving every penny and makes things easier.
>>
>>1281420
Again, it comes down to what you're into. The "best" thing for one person is totally different from another. There are so many factors, music, age group, how much you want to spend, what kind of crowd is there. Do your own research, but I guess if I had to pick one it would be the Bank at Ballagio. Smaller, usually better, more diverse music, and it's more relaxed as opposed to a Hakkasan or Marquee kind of crazy.
>>
>>1281506
*Bellagio
>>
>>1281506
Well I know everyone's tastes vary of course, I just wanted your personal opinion.

A better question might be where should I definitely NOT go
>>
>>1281510
Any place that plays primarily Top 40/R&B. The minute I hear fucking Lil Wayne on any track I'm out the door.
>>

It seems like Lil Wayne and other 2000s/2010s rappers perform at Vegas clubs a lot
>>
Go to Hustlers and eat a stripper out in the back room. Then do some blow and go to a club. Spend all your money on tables and slots the next afternoon and book an early flight home. You'll be worried about mouth clap.
>>
>>1281532
Well the average age of the Vegas club crowd is mid-20's. They were listening to that shit in HS I guess.
>>
>>1281615

>>
>>1282136

is XS open on any weeknights? if so, is it easier to get into?
>>
>>1282140
nvm, I went on the site and it seems like you can buy tickets?
>>
>>1280978
Local here. Vegas is a fucking dusty ass shithole filled with bottom of the barrel Californians. Between May and October it's hot as hell and any other time, it's windy as hell.

On the bright side, everything is 24/7 and tere's barely any other places that will give you Carne Asada fries when you're hungover at 4 in the morning that isn't in Vegas.

Oh and the restaraunts in Chinatown have reasonable prices too.
>>
>>1280980
depends, are you attractive or in shape?

When I was in Vegas, I was with a group of guys on a D1 college swimming team, so most of us had the bodies of olympic athletes. While walking along the strip we got a few promoters trying to hook us up with tickets into some of the better clubs.
>>
Britbong.
First time going to Vegas and America in general.

Tipping tips?
I'm socially inept and a cheapskate.
Never tipped in the UK so want to be prepared for this.
Heard you even tip taxis.
>>
>>1282647
Vegas is not somewhere you go to be a cheapskate

There are other cities in the US you can go to and party but without spending as much money, like New York.
>>
>>1282647
General rules:
-$2-3 per drink.
-20% or more for meals (don't be stingy and do 15%). More if good service, less if not so good.
-Yes taxis get a tip, for a shorter trip $5, for a longer one I do more like $10. You don't HAVE to tip them, but it's good karma. Also tip your Uber/Lyft guy if you use them. A few bucks.
-$5 for valets to call you a cab.
-Limos, depends on how long you have it. I would do no less than $10/hour, and even that's stingy.
-Room service, $5-10. Maid service in your room after you check out, $5-10.

You will now get 75 autists telling you this is too much, you don't have to tip at all, blah blah but that's BS. Vegas is an expensive town and tipping is expected. Go back to the same place after not tipping well or at all and you WILL get shitty service.
>>
>>1283044
Thanks for this.
Room Service? Per drink?
What happens when you don't tip or give too little?

>>1282959
Well I'm not planning on not spending. It's just tips.
20% for someone to pass me a plate is hard for me to come to terms with.
>>
>>1283305

20% of the subtotal won't hurt your wallet at low to mid end places. If you're eating at high end places then you're probably rich anyway.
>>
>>1283044
Goddamn that is horrible. I was only there for 4 nights, and I never tipped anyone (didn't go to restaurants though). The only 'bad' thing that happened was a drink lady gave me a dirty look after ordering a beer. We rarely stayed at the same table long enough for her to care and be slow with a second drink.

Honestly I want to start a band and have as many nights/places to play as possible. I visited LA and didn't fit in at all. I like rock, not top 40 or EDM. Vegas seems more livable than LA but my worry is the place will be and older demographic, like 30s and 40s vacationing. I want to go out and meet other people in their mid 20s like me.

I've lived in this place since 2013. I see people have the strip pretty well covered. For the most part, I agree with Daniel Tosh's assessment of Vegas:
>"The locals say the REAL Vegas is off the strip. Well, I've been off the strip, and it's a shitty suburb. I'll take my adult Disney World, thank you."

If for some reason, you are driven to leave that bright, colorful little bubble with all the amenities and food options you could hope for, I suppose there are some little gems out there.

Frankie's Tiki Room: True, classic Vegas kitsch. I consider this the best spot for cocktails in town. I love a good Zombie, but for shit's sake, pace yourself.

Like most sushi restaurants, it's owned and staffed by a bunch of Koreans, but they don't even pretend at authenticity. Kpop music blasts from the speaker, they serve Korean sides like kimchee and kimbap, and their rolls (unlike the unspoiled simplicity of real Japanese sushi) are hot messes coated in breading and slathered in sweet and savory sauces. Vamp'd: good bartenders, lively crowd, goth chicks, and possibly the best small venue for a burgeoning rock band.

Coyote Ugly is good, the Luxor has a shit ton of shows to see, alibi in the Aria is spendy but nice, i hate old strip, just family and drunks, the farther I get from kids the happier I am, they have NO business being in Vegas proper - so Aria, Bellagio, Monte Carlo, and planet Hollywood are excellent. I know I want to move to Nevada. I just need to figure out how close to Vegas and if so, where exactly. I can afford $850 rent and utilities. I just don't want to see a $650 a month place and find out it's a rundown complex. Where I'm from, there are actual ghettos with poor people living there, not just vacant homes. And apartments and townhouses cost $900 and aren't in necessarily nice areas.

So where are they not lame?

Anywhere where a bud light isn't $18

No baseball games then I guess.

I figured. Guess I'll have to rely on something other than my accent then.

I doubt you even have much club experience

Best strip clubs on the strip?

I last went to Sophia's, probably got ripped off but still had a good time. $40 cover, $60 for a lap dance but I was allowed (even encouraged) to touch. But I have no idea how typical my experience was

As I mentioned earlier, the best strip club is off the strip. Just keep driving up Las Vegas Boulevard. Way up. >>1284195

Thanks Anon, sounds awesome. Are you allowed to touch? Or what exactly is common/uncommon in strip clubs? No idea about the perks and etiquette

Is it worth it?
As a /noguns/ citizen I can't tell what's worth trying out.

Was going to go to gungarage(?) to try out a rifle/handgun combo. The most basic package.

I cannot tell if this is a real pic or a Texture Mod for New Vegas
