Hey guys, I'm mostly ready for my first big solo travelling adventure in august. I'll be going to thailand, malaysia and indonesia.

I'm planning on staying near the coast in thailand for a week, then flying to tawau in sabah province of malaysia for some scuba, to balikpapan for some jungle exploring with a guide, and finally off to bali to recover from my jungle fever and STIs I've picked up along the way.

The trip advisories seem to suggest that sabah is super dangerous right now because of the philippines; is there any merit to that?

Also any tips on travelling solo in any of those areas would be great too, I'm a big muscular guy who looks kind of intimidating so I'm not expecting too much trouble but I'm not sure what to expect.

recovering from jungle fever in bali*. probably the safest place I'll be at during the whole trip I think right?
