Hey Team.
I'm from a pretty white/western country, and I've always wanted to go to place that would give me a real culture shock and get me out of my comfort zone. I'm thinking India.
I'd love to hear some of your experiences + any 'must see's'

Had a "coming of age" experience there, way back many years ago (oldfag).
Just get a guesthouse somewhere along the river. Try to find one that is without backpackers, and opt for one full of pilgrims and old India-hounds. Stay for a couple of months. You will be changed.

im heading off there next month doing the golden triangle then wandering for the rest of the trip (2 months) before i head off to sri lanka. Exact same position as you, got a bit too comfortable in the wash cycle so im going to shake things up
