Going to Bulgarias capital Sofia for new years eve this year. Will stay there for 4 days.
Any tips and must DOs?
- Is it worth going to Plovdiv in winter
- How about Lake Pancharevo? How do I get there?
- Is it worth going to Vitosha Mountain for some winter hiking? Where should I go there and how do I get there?
Where should I spent new years eve for fireworks and stuff?
Thx!

BG anon from that thread
>- Is it worth going to Plovdiv in winter
No.
>- How about Lake Pancharevo? How do I get there?
Yes. Huge fan of it and I'm a regular there.
Bus 1, bus 3 or bus 5 from Geo Milev bus station
42.678025, 23.370522 geographic coordinates
>- Is it worth going to Vitosha Mountain for some winter hiking? Where should I go there and how do I get there?
Yes. I would recommend Borovets. It's a ski-resort an hour away from Sofia.
Bus 66 if they don't change shit around for winter. Bus stop: 42.658476, 23.328256 (for Vitosha).

Vitosha, Kopitoto area. Or probably 1 of the several sky bars.

Thx for your answer!
You generally can't recommend Plovdiv for a day trip or just not in winter?
That's the bus numbers I found so far but I can't really find any timetables in english and - as you say - I fear that they don't drive as often in winter.
Any special sky bar you can recommend? I stay at the Hilton hotel. Maybe one not too far away.
Thx dude!

>Plovdiv
It's great to be honest and if you're doing a brief Bulgaria visit - it's a must. Winter can get grey and depressing.
If you hit the snow season - by all means, visit it when it's covered. It's generally better at summer. It has several mounds to climb within the city so if they are snowy it should be a great experience.
>Bus timetables
They are public transportation buses so they have at least 3 every hour. Summer is 4 per hour, per line.
So they are regular enough not to care about time tables. The only thing important is that they end at 22, but for your purposes it doesn't matter.
>Hitlon hotel / bar recomm
You'll have a grand view of National Palace of Culture which is like 2 mins away
