Hello guys!

Do you have any advices on what I should see in Romania?
On internet I found only some advices about Bucharest, Brasov and Transylvania (Dracula's castle, etc).
But I think this is only the tip of the iceberg, I think there is a lot more.
I'm interested mainly in meet people, nature and cities.

Furthermore:
- Do romanians speak english?
- Are there a lot of hills on the middle of the country?
I'll travel with the bicyle...

Thanks!
>>
Do your self a favor and check out Sighișoara
when you are in Transylvania. A wonderful little town. Would also check out Timișoara if you have the time.I have been in Romania many times, and the Transylvania aerea is very nice. You will meet a lot of nice people there. But beware gypsies and other people who will try to take advantage of you.

Bucharest is also a nice big city to visit. Check out the Ceaușescu Palace when your there.

Not many Romanian speak English. But some students do.

>Do you have any advices on what I should see in Romania?
my dick

>On internet I found only some advices about Bucharest, Brasov and Transylvania (Dracula's castle, etc). I'm interested mainly in meet people, nature and cities.
don't visit the castle, it's shit, take your fag bike and visit the rural areas from Sibiu to Cluj

>Do romanians speak english?
yes
>- Are there a lot of hills on the middle of the country?
yes and shitty roads

>beware gypsies
this
but they are only south of the mountains since their wagons can't climb them
just avoid speaking english and looking like a tourist

Thanks!
I'll take a look to these advices.
If you have other idea please share them with us :)
ps. what about the hills? are they very hard to climb with a bicycle?

i'm not a romanian, but... look at the fucking map.
also how would we know your experience level?
if you're dutch, don't even think of cycling there. if you're from nepal, you'll be fine.
>>
I'm seconding a trip to Sighisoara.

Romania is cool, and if you stick to the shitty tourist spots you can get by with English, anywhere else, you will be generally fine anyway. Just say "multumesc" with a super shitty accent and they will take care of you.

Romanians are pretty hospitable people and like meeting foreigners. Just expect that when you venture out of large cities you might get stopped in the street by country folk scream-talking loudly for ten hours in Romanian, constantly speaking louder as if that will help you understand. They might also try to get you drunk on horrible homemade alcohol.

The roads are shitty for bikes, and you may be run over by insane truck drivers, and you will absolutely be chased by packs of stray dogs.

Transylvania is cool, I would suggest going to other nice places instead of shitty Bran. If you are biking, there is a sort of triangle you can do in Trannyvania of old castles and fortified churches and shit. Most of them are in small villages, most of them empty of tourists. If you don't get killed on the highways, you might enjoy that...

Drum bun.

I cycled the country this summer.

>Do romanians speak english?
I didn't meet a single English-speaking person when I traveled the country this summer. Neither young nor old people, neither police officers nor people working in the service industry seem to have a basic command of English.
I do speak decent Hungarian and shitty Romanian fwiw but not a single person opted to switch to English with me.
>Are there a lot of hills on the middle of the country?
Some. I didn't have much of a problem there with my fully-loaded singlespeed but it depends on your bike.
>I'm interested mainly in meet people
Those are everywhere.
>nature
The Apuseni are great. Incredibly lonely, very fairytale-like. The Transylvanian Alps with the Transalpina are stunning too but both are probably too much for you if you're even worried about hills.
>cities
They're all trash lol.

>>1269795
>Would also check out Timișoara if you have the time.
Looked pretty shitty to me. The old town center is fairly small and very run-down and the rest of the city is entirely commie blocks.
>gypsies they are only south of the mountains since their wagons can't climb them
There's plenty of them everywhere lmao. The road south of the Somes river, from Satu Mare to Buzesti, is one huge gypsy ghetto. The area between Buciumi and Huta too. Was fearing for my life man.

>The roads are shitty for bikes, and you may be run over by insane truck drivers, and you will absolutely be chased by packs of stray dogs.
kek.
All of these. Drumuri nationale and European roads that connect large cities have tons of aggressive traffic and are to be avoided. And those fucking DOGS man. There's plenty of stray dogs but they're mostly chill, just looking for food, don't really care about cyclist. It's the owned dogs and shepherd dogs which are HUGE cunts. Those beasts will chase you down several hundred meters downhill just to fuck with you. Got chased by maybe ~8 dogs each day on average. Just build some fucking fences man.

I'm flying to timisoara this monday, it's gonna be a 16 day trip. Pretty excited about the cities and mountains. my plan will be exploring a few mountains and sightseeing in the cities.
Are Mount Tampa or the Fagaras mountains easy to reach?
>>
I'm also going this August. Going by car entering through northwestern border.

My itinerary is quite crowded so it might be a problem but I prefer seeing more than staying in one place.

Planning to do something like Sapanta-Barsana- Monasteries in Bucovina- Sighi-Brasov-day in Bucegi from Busteni-Sinaia (Peles, casino, monastery)- northern transfagarasan drive to balea- day hike from balea-sibiu.

Thought about delta, sea coast but it is too far and I got the image that they arent so special. Also, decided to skip Bucharest since it gets mixed reviews from tourists and Bran.

Anything I am missing or should get rid of?

Locals might answer better but from what I gathered Tampa is very easy to reach cause it is basically in the city of Brasov and it takes like an hour to get to the top.

Fagaras is an another story. It depends if you plan on spending nights in the mountains since reaching Moldoveanu or any other peak in one day sounds hard work. The most common route to them is northern part of transfagarasan. Then hiking them from Balea lake which is already in 2 km altitude. Bus from Sibiu to Balea lake costs about 12 euro one way.
Also, there are routes from villages in the valleys like Victoria or Sambata. Buses also should go there.
>>
Thanks everyone guys!

>Those are everywhere.
yep, but if no one can speak english... you know, probably I'll be alone and I don't want to speak with no one for 15 days...
