Going to Vietnam with my wife for a week.. Any tips advices ? We will arrive and depart to/from Hanoi... Also /viet/ general
>>
Visit Cat Ba island and stay there for a night or two, do the tour that includes monkey island and kayaking between the karst formations, don't go to ha long bay, check out ninh binh too

>don't go to ha long bay

agreed. Also stay in the northern part of the country if you're doing just a week. Plenty to do and see there and trying to do the whole country would mean spending half your trip just moving around

>don't go to ha long bay

why not?

Bump.

My gf and I are going in August and staying at least until the end of the year. She is ethnically Vietnamese and her family lives in Hanoi (pretty well off folks). We're going for travel as well as to scope out the ESL industry there.

With that amount of time, what places should we really spend time? Obviously going to visit the major tourist spots and cities, but what are some off the beat things to do?

Also, which beaches do you recommend? We already have an Airbnb booked for the last week of August in Phu Quoc Island.

My gf doesn't have any specific interests besides doing what I want, and I am very interested in the political and cultural history of Vietnam, as well as nature and hiking.

What do you guys recommend we check out in South Vietnam?

We have the North covered already with Hai Long Bay and Ninh Binh.

It's too fucking overcrowded and everyone wants to rip you off there, go to cat ba island where there are lots of places to stay in and caffes/restaurants/etc and in a few hours you will be bored of the bay anyway so there's no point sleeping a night in a boat

Which Ha long Bay cruise hotel would you recommend?
