I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas, coming out of Southern California, and I'm asking around for what I should do/go see. I'm not really the most rich guy around but I'm very satisfied with kitschy or off-the-beaten-trail type stuff.
For example I know there's a ghost hunt in a near by town and some animatronic prospectors on the way there from Southern California, and I know there's some fun nerd themed bars and horror themed bars in Las Vegas, along with some a cool arcade.
But I need a lot more to fill up my time. Anything you guys know of, little or big, that I woulndn't already be able to find in the more basic searches. Everyone knows about the Luxor and the big apple rollercoaster, so I'm just curious if you guys know of fun or interesting stuff do in or around Las Vegas.
Any kind of attraction or amusement area or sight or famous location or weird thing or museum or anything fun, or bizarre or interesting
I don't know exactly what you're asking for with "off-the-beaten-trail", but I would recommend Red Rock Canyon as an alternative to the gambling and nightlife. Plenty of seeing and hiking to be done. The admission fee is $3. It's not the greatest scenery in the west, but it's probably the best you're getting in southern Nevada.

Looking for some things a bit more unusual. I was excited because I thought Bedrock City was closer to Vegas than it was, so I can't go there and really would like something kinda like it as well

Visit the sand dunes at Mojave National Preserve. It's a tiny detour and a quick hike to the top. If you've never been to big sand dunes before it's an absolute pleasure running down them.

Local here. I second Red Rock, and I've gotta add Calico if you are interested, it's right by.
The Hoover Dam is also quite interesting but only on a cloudy day, if not, it's hell.
I would suggest for you to go to date oases that are in the area, it's a really surreal experience and really great. Feels like Carthage.
Also, I would suggest for you to go to Valley of Fire. Wonderful state park to the east of the city.
The Lakes is also a wonderful area but afaik neglected recently.
Have fun man.
