I live in Antwerp and Belgium is probably one of the safest countries in Europe. Don't worry about a thing.

I know there's this narative about muslim terrorists but I find it hard to believe...after all the whole muslim population is somewhere around 3% tops from what I read

it's very dangerous.

1) Belgian beer is very strong. The normal beer you are used is rarely stronger than 5% alcohol (usually less), while Belgian beer can be up to 14% alcohol, with 8-9% being the norm. So it's twice as strong as what you are used to.

2) Those waffles on OP pic are served hot. The melted sugar can be much hoter than boiling water, which can give you mouth burns. If you kiss a prostitue while having a mouth burn, you can get all kind of infections. Which leads us to

3)Prostitues in Belgium are often very attractive. Fucking them can ruin your emotional life.

They're still around. Friend who has to do it says it's horribly boring. They only have to deal with the occasional drunk or mentally unstable beggars - who are usually drunk as well - but other than that it's just 12 hours a day of loitering and not being home, 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.

In my experience there are only soldiers patroling on bus- and train stations as well as on the airport. City centers are quiet and chill, as you would expect in other european cities.

Some anon posters mentioned the ladies of entertainment. Most urban belgian cities have desginated red light districts. The dutch-kind with windows. Those areas are safe and have - in case of Antwerp - the police station in the same street.

There is an exception for bikes. Bikes with a weak lock will get stolen within 5 minutes in the largest cities, it's almost a sport and most young people i know have at least stolen 1 bike. It's a give-and-take kinda thing.

Thanks guys for all the feedback.. I really don't mind muslims ( had them here in Timisoara for the past 40 years and nobody even notices them) however they're the educated ones that just own shops and dentist offices.... my concern was more with the fundamentalist variety that I didn't even take seriously before the airport bombings because I'm going to be living there with my girlfriend so knowing if she's in any danger of being raped in plain daylight in the middle of St. Niklas was a need-to-know.

Brussels I don't know as well as Antwerp, but a very sizeable part of the immigrant population are expats or Congolese. Also, that chart of yours is 22.5% muslims.

Antwerp I can confirm is an extremely mixed bag as far as immigrants go - definitely fewer muslims here. If I step out and walk 10 minutes, I will definitely have seen
