Help me decide where to go next.

I'm about to be made redundant and will have approx 50k GBP burning a hole in my pocket.
Me and wifey have decided to have a trip away from the kids and I'm looking for suggestions.

Bearing in mind we want to go somewhere that would normally be prohibitively expensive what would /trv/ suggest? She likes sitting on a beach, I like drinking. So far I've suggested Japan, but she vetoed. She suggested Maldives but I vetoed. Anyone got any compromise solutions?

Go to Dubai. Decent beaches, decent night life, and stay someplace like the Raffles. Spend a night in the desert at the nature preserve with oryxes and shit. Let your wife splurge on some shopping.

Great country for doing extravagant shit.

Did you ever consider Italy? Or Iceland?

You can spend an entire vacation exploring Italy. Go check out the Cinque Terre, it's beautiful.

Same goes for any Euro destination, too easy to do routinely.

We've talked about somewhere in S. America as it's a continent we've not been to. Any recommendations down that way?

Video shows pretty much what it's all about, I went two times, once during January and once during June, and June was better to me imo, I like colder weather and when their foliage starts it truly is a beautiful place

Language barrier is a little hard but not bad
