I'm planning to drive from Belgium to Switzerland and back by car over the course of a long weekend. The primary goal is to visit the HR Giger museum in Gruyères, Switzerland. Ideally I would like to spend a day in Germany or France, a day in Switzerland and then another day in Germany or France before returning home.
Looking for suggestions for things to do and see along the way.

Definitely pass through Alsace, it's a beautiful region, Bern is great, I'm currently studying at the uni there
You might want to drive to interlaken then to gruyères, it'll be more of a drive, but definitely worth those stunning views

if the weather is good you should consider passing by Zurich and take a quick walk along the lake around Opernhaus and Bellevue area. and if you are already there, you might as well make a quick excursion to the ETH Polyterasse and look down from there. even by foot it's a rather short walk and you can go straight through the old city
lemme show it on the map. I also mark two park houses. I never used them before but you could park your car for an hour and do a quick trip around
orange highlights many possible paths you can take, red is higher priority locations that I would visit but most important definitely is Opernhaus and Bellevue (the red line along the lake with cross on it). taking the short trip through the city is secondary
again, only if the weather is good, otherwise not worth it IMO

this is an old picture during summer from around the area where I marked the red cross. on the other side of the lake you can see the Üetliberg. right next to the antenna I surrounded with red what you will see in the next picture
whoops forgot image

here it is
the restaurant I never used but it's probably extremely overpriced. this metal tower used to be free but now apparently you have to pay to go to the top. what a fucking rip off. can't have nice things

why do I post this shit you ask? because I wanna show you two pics from top of this tower, I think they are from 3 years ago, not sure
I again marked with a red cross the approximate location of where I took the first pic

aaand when you turn around...
yeah shitty phone camera doesn't do this any justice. but you can see the alps in the background even from the lake. when the weather is good and the air clear it really is beautiful
Triburg is a pretty nice little forest town where I spend time a few years ago. Would recommend.

You could stop in Strasbourg and go in the city to petit france.
Also in the neighbourhood, about 40 minutes from Strasbourg in Germany, there is a little mountaintown called Durbach where you have all sorts of wines being produced and you can obviously have a tasting there. It is a little hidden gem.
