what is up my dudes, i'm going to the USA for 3 months this summer to teach kids how to skateboard at a summer camp in ny... afterwards I plan on travelling the country to catch my flight back from san francisco.... any tips, pointers or recommendations for my journey/time there? i'm planning to hit up philly, new orleans, the grand canyon and l.a on my way to s.f... any other cities i should hit up? i was debating atlanta, miami, and vegas but i ain't sure about those
>>
>>1237509
Recommendations? Getting shot by niggers for one and a cheap burial afterwards.
>>
>>1237509
How are you planning on getting around?

Airfare is expensive as fuck in the US and our trains are bad, slow and expensive. As for cities to go to it depends on what you are into. I personally hate traveling to cities in my home country unless it's to NYC, Philly, New Orleans, Vegas, SF or Chicago. I'm not even that big into /out/ shit but I much prefer to go to national parks in here than the cities.

I feel like once you've seen one American city you've seen 99% of them(besides the ones I named)
>>
Been to the US a couple of times. So from the top of my head:
-They give you more food than which you're normally used to unless you're a fatty
-American TV is horrible and repeat the same promos every 5 mins
-You'll be encouraged to eat junk food; try to keep a balanced diet
-San Francisco is full of hobos and hippies
-Atlanta is a shithole where you get shot
-New York isn't all that great as they make it out to be (granted I was only there for 3 days)
-There is plenty of crazy in the US. Avoid interaction with said crazy.
-Sunscreen. Especially during the summer months.
-Get the designated city transport card/ticket for the duration of your stay.
-You will waste money on things you'll never use. Budget accordingly.
-Look at places outside of the main city to explore.
-Avoid tourist traps.
-Getting your laundry washed is expensive compared to doing it yourself.
-American hygiene isn't that great. Carry sanitizer.
-Be polite and compliant with authority no matter what.
-Walk as much as you can and dont forget to take it all in.
>>
>>1237509
Depends what u like u stupid fucking nigger

Im from southeast so im biased. Atlanta is easily the worst place in the entire country. Best bet is to hit smaller cities. Every large city in the US is overrated save New Orleans. Hipster trash killed Austin New Orleans will be dead soon

New York is ok. I recommend Burlington Vermont and Boston. As u go down east coast go to Pittsburg instead of Philly. Avoid DC it's shit. Tennessee and West Virgina are worth seeing based on the parks alone. Appalachia culture is the best thing in the US and is so much more than hillbilly trash.

As u go south I recommend Asheville Charleston Savannah, go to congaree national park in SC. It has the oldest and tallest trees in US by concentration. Place is fucking priomordial swamp with huge skyscraper trees

Skip Florida and go west. I love rural trash south. People are hesitant but wicked nice. Best food in the country. I can't say much for past Mississippi River. West coast is all shit. I'd say ignore California entirely except for San Diego . Utah is the most beautiful state in the country. Salt lake City and ever natural park there is worth seeing. Portland Oregon is worth seeing because it's fucking hysterical.

Miami is sort of a meme place, still trading on a reputation from 20 years ago.

Apparently what happened is a bunch of white people, or what the locals call Americans (try to keep up, this is how they talk) built a tourist industry around Miami Beach, which is the only attractive area there.

Over the years, Jews took it over, no offense, this is just the facts, and leveraged it pretty well, maybe a bit too well.

The boat loads (literally) of Cubans showed up. The problem seems to be that the Cubans dont really seem to care for "Americans" and yet have to prop up an economy based on hospitality. This is somewhat of a conflict; "Welcome to Miami, now get out, blanco".

Its the rudest place I've ever been, and thats coming from a Northeastern urbanite. They act insulted in many places if you ask a question in English.

South Beach is the worst. Its one of those places that you have to go just to laugh at how awful it is. It is the definition of shallow, plastic, air-headed and fake, and yet that's the joke.

That said, no matter how much los Cubanos sneer at you, they dont fuck around when it comes to coffee and food. The service is unbelievably rude but the food y cafe con leche is superb, and the truly cozy part, I think, is North Beach. The people are still rude but not fake, and no one has their head up their ass. There are a dozen latin American cultures to dine at all in North Beach, and I think North Beach is an under rated treasure.

I booked there and made the mistake of realizing SoBe was only a half hour away. So the plan was to stay cheap at North Beach and travel to SoBe. I'd have been happier if I'd never known SoBe was there, but I had to see it.

North Beach is quiet, lazy, even a bit bourgeois (in a Cuban way) and it was nice to have some distance from SoBe.

So if you go to Miami (Beach), book in North or Mid Beach so you can take the spectacle of Ocean Drive and South Pointe in without have to overpay for the noise there you'll eventually tire of
>>
The food/drinks thing is no joke.
Be very fucking careful with what you out in your mouth in the US. They put extra sugar (not like refined sugar from canes or so, but like glucose syrup etc) in whatever they can, and the sizes are ridiculous, too.
Cook whatever you can from raw ingredients, otherwise you'll be fed way too much sugar.
If it's just a few days, it's okay, but you can get really fat in a few weeks already. Drink water instead of soda, even if you drink soda at home, just to balance out the extra sugars you get from the food.
>>
>>1239321
Even though there is a South Beach term, south of say 22nd to south of 15th street, there is no term "mid beach" or "north beach" dude, no matter what you saw on a map.

Sounds like you played tourist, went to touristed places (ocean drive vs lincoln road) and didn't enjoy it. Your revisionist renovation and poor understanding of the local area is crappily done though. Without mentioning one single attraction, restaurant, I think you never checked yelp. I wonder if you even left the Beach itself, because if you didn't, you didn't see "Miami" proper.

I wouldn't call anything on the rest of the beach, either, from Bal Harbour to Aventura even up to Hollywood in the next county "Cuban bourgeois" whatsoever either, WTF? You got it wrong dude. It might be pretty russian, however.

Something you might not understand is that 30% of tourists off planes in Florida are now Brazilian tourists, and they're not too friendly, really, if you aren't Brazilian too. You could walk up to the wrong restaurant/nightclub VIP line, and stand there forever if you speak a lick of English or even look English speaking, but this has nothing to do with Miami Beach proper. Just shitty central and south american politics where they don't like each other for being Nica or Colombian or whatever else their own chips on their shoulders are... Cubans are homey nice people at every class level, and they know it, and they don't participate in the soccer rivalry crap the rest of the nationalities have with each other being haters. You weren't surrounded by Cubans or even waited upon by Cubans in restaurants if you were shit on.
>>
>>1239347

If I am trying to convey regions, why would I not use the terms they could search on a map. I agree that Mid Beach is pretty much just a map term, but there is definitely a North Beach, if for no other reason than people in SoBe like to talk about what is *not* SoBe.

I re-read my post wondering where I even mentioned Aventura and see I didn't. I dont know what you are straw-manning.

And yes, I played 'tourist'. Thats what I was there for, not to try and commune with the endless ghettos on the mainland. I was downtown long enough to realize it was like every other Floridan urban shit mecca and simply went back to the Beach.

Cubans do not exactly hide the fact that they are Cuban. Its not like you can confuse a Brazilian with a Cuban when they speak.

Further, you seem to think I do not like Cubans based on their general demeanor. You did not read the part about me being from the Northeast. I said they were rude, and they were, but little more than the people in general. They just made less effort to hide their contempt. It doesnt mean I dislike them, just that others should be prepared.

I didnt like being treated like a foreigner in my own country (if you consider Florida part of the US) but I can handle it. At least the Cubans were consistently competent, which is more than I can say for most of the other locals, and it made up for the rough attitudes.

I dont understand why you indict me as a tourist, which I was, in one breath then accuse me of not seeing what you consider tourist attractions in the next. My intentions as a tourist were simply to take in the area, hit the beach, get the hell out of the winter for a while and go see the Seaquarium, which I enjoyed very much...

I liked the place, I especially liked North Beach and even with the snooty Cubans, I liked the neighborhood there. I liked SoBe as sort of a comedy of tourism gone amok, how everyone tries to sell it as sort of a 'thing' that really clearly has seen better days. But SoBe isnt a place I would wanna linger in.

I did like Ocean Drive; I saw nothing especial about Lincoln Road. That doesnt mean it was bad, I just didnt see anything special. I had more fun snooping around Flamingo Park and scuttling up Meridian to see the neighborhood.

Also

>2017
>yelp

Come on.

If you want a restaurant reference, I enjoyed the adjoined diner at the Beacon, despite some 'yelpy' reviews. I meant to try many others but didn't.

In general, I liked Miami Beach a lot, even if I had no use for Miami itself (why would I?). I thought SoBe was funny for the reasons I mentioned, the plastic, ridiculous self-worship, but thought North Beach was much more enjoyable.

If there is some confusion, reading your post, by North Beach, I mean between 41st and roughly 78th. It may extend north more, but I didnt make time to look.

Now back in your troll-hole. I've had about enough from you blasted Miamians. Surely you would at least agree your weathermen are useless.

This obviously wasnt shot from Miami Beach and I already gave you a clue- name that beach!

Jesus Christ could people on this thread be any less dramatic.

I don't know about the situation in some of the cities you mentioned, but if you plan to go to Vegas here are some tips and things to keep in mind:

- If you can avoid taking a taxi and drive on your own (though I assume you're going to do just that).
- If you want to stay at one of the resorts for a prolonged stay sign up for their rewards card, they'll treat you better.
- If you want to buy a souvenir don't do it at the Strip, go to the Fremont Street instead. Everything is the same but without the extra price of the Strip (everything's a tourist trap there).
- If you want to attend to a club don't accept the "free" tickets people give out on the Strip, they're fake.
- Take a day to visit the grand canyon obviously.

Usually the smaller cities offer a better experience since people are friendlier and there's not that many crowds or tourist traps, but if it's your goal to visit the big cities there's no problem with that.

Are you uncomfortable with small talk from strangers? Because that is a constant in the entire US. People try to be as friendly as possible, so don't worry if someone just suddenly starts talking to you, they (probably) don't want anything and are just being nice. You'll notice if someone is batshit insane straight away, and you're not obligated to deal with them.

No, but I could be *more* dramatic if I tried, you tongue-tied bumbling sonofabitch! You know who else mixed up expressions? Adolf Hitler. And it just happens to be his birthday today and I am to believe its just a coincidence. Take your neo-nazi crap and get out. How many Jewish graves did you vandalized today? 10? 20? And you have the nerrrrrve, the audacity, the gall, the temerity to criticize us when its people like you marching fascism in the streets right back to the capitals of Europe as we speak? How dare you, really. I can't even believe this is allowed. Where are the mods on this board anyways. We shouldn't have to sit and suffer this hate-speech from barbarians like this. I really want to travel to America.
.
I want to see some nature, stuff like the Grand Canyon and Yosemite Park, maybe visit some small towns here and there, meet a few people.

I'm thinking California, Nevada, Arizona

I hate big cities though, they stress me out like hell and if I end up in one I want to get out of there as quickly as possible, except maybe for short trip through Vegas.

Any tips on routes and how to get around? guides, anything? I'm clueless.

Add Utah to that list. Small towns in the West are generally tourist oriented, or shells of former mining and logging towns. It'll be a bit harder to meet locals than you think. To get around you'll need to rely on long distance buses, renting a car for short distance, and flying for long distance. I don't know where you're from, but public transportation between cities is pretty bad to non-existent, so there'll be no trains unless your fine with paying the same or more as air fare to take Amtrak to fewer places with fewer times to choose from, and you'll get to your destination slower as well. You might be tempted to visit the Native reservations: Do not go, they're terribly depressing and filled with alcoholics and drug addiction. Indian Casinos are okay.

Get yourself a rented car, it's necessary, and visit any National Park you like the look of. I'm visiting Zion in Utah a few months from now. Be sure to bring clothing for cold weather if you go anytime outside of summer, and even then the mountains can get chilly.
>>
Keep in mind that each state, and each region in the US has a different culture, way of life, and customs. Drove coast to coast, I'd say after doing Texas hit up north Carolina (nags head see where the first plane made history).

Arizona has a lot to offer, grand canyon, meteor crater, Flagstaff, Four Corners, and Phoenix. If you really want a melting pot of every kind of culture from around the US Phoenix is the place to go, it's one of the fastest growing cities full of people from all over the US.

SanFran is better than LA but that's like saying a double cheeseburger is better than a single cheese burger, same shit just more of it.

Seattle/Portland is fun to visit, in the summer it can go from 80F to 40F depending if you go to the coast or not, lots of rain too.

Florida is a waste of time, it's full of old people, illegals, and junkies

Texas is nice in DFW area but has some sketchy places

Virginia has some cool stuff if you want to go walk on a carrier and battleships, also has a bunch of colonies if you are into history

Chicago is okay

Las Vegas is a waste of time aside from tourist traps that will immediately making you feel remorse for going there after the first 30 seconds of the WOW factor wearing off. Weed's legal there if you are into it
>>
>>1239696
If you are going to Arizona, highly recommend the Phoenix Metro area there is a lot of good food places around there. It's not always busy that much.

Also a tip for California is to not go to LA but places near it. Much too touristy there.

As for Nevada Vegas is nice if you intend to visit for a few days highly recommend going to entertainment areas. Beware there is a lot of Casino's connected to them though.

Skater here as well. Highly recommend you visit Jacksonville Florida. We have 6 skateparks, 3 of them Team Pain parks and of course there's Kona, the worlds oldest Skatepark, massive lava like landscape plus 2 snake runs, a street course, and a mega halfpipe. Skate culture is awesome in Jacksonville, from kids to old school we're even discussing building a skatepark or two downtown. Kona's 40th Anniversary is this June around the 20th, it's gonna be big, if you come out hit me up goosepostbox at gmail

If I book early I can get a trip to Vegas for quite cheap, £350 for return flights with Norwegian and about £26 a day for a room on the strip (stratosphere). Do you reckon I can get a room on the strip cheaper?

I've been twice and both times ive stayed on the freemont street.

It's a long street with no cars that is packed as fuck at night. I believe the hotels are cheaper there too. U can bus to the strip for like $8 if i recall correctly

This always terrifies me. I am always afraid tourists are going to get lost or innocently bumble into some urban hell hole and get eaten by the savages. Tourists die here all the time, and I feel horrible every time I read about it.

Just please stay in safe areas. Our buses are not normally friendly places because they are economical and, like any affordable mass transit in the US, are the first choice of the most barbaric people. I approach any train or bus like its my first day in the prison yard and I have to be ready to prove myself. Everyone is the enemy.

Where are you coming from and what region are you focusing on? How many days per stop and how long overall? What interests you? I always first suggest staying out of cities unless you dont mind sticking to tourist areas. Get yourself familiar with American urban crime statistics before making the leap to cities.

Its one thing to make a planned foray into a particular city that you have studied. But I get nervous when Outlanders say they just wanna wander around like its 1953. America *lost* its cities a long time ago. They are now run by failed agendas, so they are chaos. They actually made sci-fi movies about it in the 80's.

Oh I see. Then you are familiar, I feel much better.

I have found it difficult to do anything in a week. Its not to be dismissed, it has good value, its just hard to squeeze it into the idea of a vacation. More like a refreshing extended weekend. You simply spend too much time on the move for any experience to stick. This is just my opinion.

And let it be repeated that you dont have to splurge every day to enjoy time away. I always budget 4 times what I actually end up spending in per diems.

I assume you are doing a sort of circuit, ?

Meeting new people to any ends will be hard in a week with so much wandering.

How soon is this? Do you think you would benefit from more planning or is this about spontaneity? Spontaneity is nice but its sort of its own master. You cant expect as much value geographically if you are going to improvise a lot.

I would go two weeks cheap, divide it by two, no more than three stops and favor one heavily over the other two. Pick the one you think you'd like the most, give it three days, spend a week chilling in your favorite and then wind down in some less serious stop on the way home. Breathe the air, snap some pics, walk the streets, get the cheap grub and take a night out here and there where you arent getting charged sucker prices at some tourist trap.

Sorry if I am not more helpful. I am just spitballing an outline. What you choose and how has much more relevance than me trying to guess what you want out of it.

I don't get it. Everywhere I went in South America people absolutely loved Americans, especially Brazil and in Sao Paulo where lots of people have travelled to the US.

So why do the Brazilians and other Latinos suddenly not want to hang out with Americans when they're in Miami? I would at least think that the Brazilian girls would be out to hook up with American guys.

I think he was just trying to cover for Cubans because he thought I disliked them when I said they were rude. I dont mean hostile or nasty, just rude. But they are smart, & that counts a lot there

As far as I can tell, there is every type of Brazilian under the sun. Latinos is a very broad term; I dont think you can make a generality of them

There was Mexican, for example, who seemed confused and frustrated yet was trying to appear polite but it was clear he didn't understand a word I was saying when I was trying to warn him not to step on some broken glass

This was the same day I started screaming at a Haitian security guard who was perturbed that I interrupted him from texting, trying to tell him there was broken glass around a wash station. He started staring blankly at the horizon, towards the sky, repeating 'where? where? I see nothing". By this point I had had about enough of foreign incompetence & began berating him for looking at the sky like Stevie fucking Wonder trying to find broken glass in the clouds, bellowing something along the lines that I would draw him a picture except his vision might be as bad as his English. (you have to be willing to go nuclear with anyone there to be taken seriously)

The Brazilians I was around were a quirky sort. I like Brazilians; they are revolting, attractive, terrifying and a joy to engage all at once. I always feel I owe them for inventing the Caipirinha , (pic) but thats another matter

This time, I was at the beach around a playful bunch. They apparently didnt know that you cant feed seagulls or they will converge and repeat air strikes until they certain nothing edible remains

So some Brazilian students thought it would be funny to begin throwing snack chips up to them, which resulted in such a calamity of birds and a feathery riot over the beach that I had to evacuate my beach spot for fear of being carpet bombed with bird poop. The Brazilians just seem perplexed at the white guy fleeing and cursing

This thread has been TAINTED with the abomination of HOMOsexuality.

It is not a Godly thing to look upon, and SHAME upon thee who offend the Lord's eyes within it.

Sodomy. Wicked lusting for the flesh. Unnatural deviations and PERVERSIONS throughout. Wanton carnal turpitude, indeed depravity IN PLAIN SIGHT of GOD ALMIGHTY Himself.

Ephesians 5:3-17

I can smell the brimstone from here. CURSED all who look upon this thread with disregard of the WORD of God, HOLY be His name, Amen.

If a mod sees this, please delete >>1241459 and >>1241476.

Different Anon-

It would appear someone familiar with one or both may simply have taken context or opportunity to stalk your FB, either presently or in the past.

It may either only be him in the initial post, or perhaps more likely, someone who is familiar with one or both of you in all the posts.

I would cease communications here and speak directly with him on a different verified channel now or later. The insistence that this dialog continue in open suggests the inability to maintain the ruse otherwise. The perpetrator is likely also playing more than one part, and the exchange may be getting archived to transmit to others for malicious purposes, or for other ill intent.

There is no point in asking for confirmation here. You would only be exacerbating and prolonging risk to assuage curiosity. Its not a place to investigate.

Nor blame your friend, who may know nothing of this, which is in fact somewhat likely. Notice that his own pictures filename is that of a Facebook URL format, not a phone/cam index. Why would someone use their own FB to save their pic to send. Or any FB for that matter. It may not have even been retrieved from that particular person's FB.

who would wanna be an oldfag on a travel board

thats almost as tragic as mods who take themselves and image boards seriously. 4chan is so ten-years-ago.

oldmoot must be near 30 by now.
>>
>>1241534
4chan is still epicenter of internet culture, it's just that the culture sucks today compared to golden age which i believe was around 2005-2010 but its debatable

It's so weird to me how Americans are always so opinionated and give them like a matter of fact. Lol

How old are you?

Pacific Northwest is gorgeous.
People are incredibly friendly. Maybe not Seattle and Portland during winter though.

Don't go clubbing there.

I'd recommended California clubs.

Disneyland is worth it if you're going with a qt or a friend. Universal Studio theme park too. Never went to Disney World.

See all the historical museums and sights in DC and New York.

Chicago is worth a visit depending on your interests. Music, history, food.

Yellowstone and Grand Canyon are worth it, tourist trap or not.

Phoenix metro area isn't much of a tourist area. It's too hot in the summer (it's ~90 degrees at night right now), and the nicer areas (Scottsdale) are flooded with old people from the Midwest during the winter.
Also, there aren't many things to do outside of downtown Phoenix (which isn't that big). I'd go with what >>1239706 said and rent a car, since outside of the D.C./NY area of the country, quality public transportation is nonexistant.
But if you just want to see natural wonders, definitely rent a car and be smart about how you'll get there, since they are in the middle of nowhere.
"Small Town America" also doesn't really exist, it was pretty made up by conservatives from what they saw on tv shows from the 50s. Most of them are desolate places with no businesses and heroin.
It might be worth it to go pretty soon, Trump might try and get rid of some national parks (mostly new ones though, but it doesn't hurt)

No it isn't it's 70's at 9PM and stays into the mid 70's till about 9-10AM. Not to mention it is breezy as fuck this time of year.
>>
>>1242081
That guy probably wouldn't even get into the club man.

Thx for the bump tho

Gotcha. Well I'm currently in Busan South Korea, next trip is Vladivostok. Doubt I'll back in the USA until mid summer.
>>
>>1242083
I may have overexaggerated (I don't actually pay that much attention to the temp.), but it is still pretty hot at night, and it certainly does not feel like the 70s , morning or night

See a sports game to get that American feel
