1. What are the two best ancient ruins to visit for someone who knows very little about the Mayans? Other than Chichen Itza.
2. Where can and can't I drink tap water? Will salsas give me problems? (they're made with water)
3. Isla Mujeres or Cozumel?

>Where can and can't I drink tap water?
Can't: Mexico. Can: Costa Rica. Bottled is everywhere and the way to go.
>Will salsas give me problems? (they're made with water)
Maybe but unlikely. They're acidic, which makes them slightly antibacterial, and they're mostly not water but tomato juice. There are horror stories about all kinds of condiments in street taquerias being full of e. Coli, and there will be some risk with any veg, but the risk is not high enough to keep you from living. Diarrhea won't kill you. (Usually. It does kill a lot of people, globally, but not otherwise healthy tourists in Mexican resorts. Rehydrate and take Cipro if you get the shits.)

Honestly man, go ask lereddit/r/mexico.
Can only answer #2, i had no problem with tap water but i just dont like how it tastes. You can have like 3L for $1, i dont think water will be a problem at all.

2. Nowhere. Salsas are good.
3. Holbox >>>Isla Mujeres >>>>>Cozumel.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Also I hope you're not staying at an all inclusive.
Enjoy.

Even if you were straight out of your HS spanish class it'd still be useless in real life. It doesn't matter though, you'll rarely need to interact with someone that doesn't speak basic english in the yucatan.
>2. Where can and can't I drink tap water? Will salsas give me problems? (they're made with water)
Nowhere. And yes salsas and guacamole will give you problems but not because of the water. It's because they make them and then leave them in a giant vat until they're used, could be days later.
Isla Mujeres >> Cozumel for everything other than diving. Cozumel is great for diving but otherwise it's just a cruise ship hellhole. Isla Mujeres has a great hostel that everyone raves about, but it's always booked up so make reservations well in advance.
