So how will traveling in 100 years look like /trv/? We will be able to travel to the moon? Or the bottom of the Mariana trench?

Provided the next 80 years see a continuous peace in the Western world and no major crisis

>hyperloop

Nothing but a pipe dream. Space guns are the future.

100 years huh? Maybe by then, people will get Total Recall style memories of vacations implanted into their minds, at a fraction of the cost of real traveling. Then the "real traveler" meme will finally become literal.
>>
They'll still be very little travel to the Moon or Mars.

Space hotels in orbit around earth will become a full fledged industry serving upper middle class and up.

War and violence will continue to decline, making more places easier to visit

China is gonna be incredible

North Korea will be flooded with Tourist

Places like New Orleans will still be dry, even if it takes incredible feats of engineering

English will be closer to being the global language

Jacksonville, FL will be the hippest town in America

Good joke. Where do you think those hundreds of million of African climate change refugees are going to go?

For the Americas I can see a peaceful future, but for Europe not at all.

Sure, maybe. You're trying to predict the future and that's hard. Going on just historical trends it's totally reasonable to expect it to continue.

Most people only travel because it's a status display especially now with social media. Or to exploit the price differences of less developed areas. People that travel to ACTUALLY see the culture/nature are maybe 1% if you removed the ability to exploit lower costs and restrict them to not being able to tell anyone of their travels.

The thing is in 100 years time traveling will be so cheap that it will lose its status label. It would be like gloating on facebook that you just made a subway trip.

The 3rd world is also having rapid GDP growth and is rapidly closing the gap with 1st world nations. If trends continue the world wouldn't have a lot of cost differences. So traveling because of cheap overseas prices wouldn't be a thing anymore. Whores in Thailand would have the same prices as whores in Amsterdam (disregarding attractiveness level and demand of certain ethnicities).

now for the last "culture/nature" aspect that most people are faking they are traveling for. worldwide culture is slowly melding together and becoming 1 singular culture. While nature is slowly declining. Urbanization will remove a lot of appeal from looking at the countryside since there will be a lot less villages and the nature will be more bland with a lot less diversity than it has now. Combined with a slowly globalized culture it will have almost 0 reasons to travel for culture/nature besides maybe for beaches/architecture (But lets be honest most people only visit those to gloat on facebook and when tickets are $20 and travel time to go everywhere on the globe is under 1 hour traveling will be seen as going to the park and not special anymore)

This may be true, globally, but I feel most Americans travel for leisure. Beach and resort vacations. Not for a status display, not for culture, but to break the monotony of work life. Travel is escapism for Americans

We will have perfect birth control and disease prevention so we can fuck fellow travelers and hookers raw.
>>
Traveling will be easy because its world war 3 and everyone will be in service
>>
Anyone want to make predictions on what citties will grow more or less popular for travel over the next 100 years?
>>
>>1227989
more popular - siberian villages
less popular - any coastal city because it likely no longer exists
>>
Probably easier to get from point A to point B but off the beaten path destinations will probably stay like that.

So many apps and information will exist that the excitement of traveling will be lower and it'll be more comparable to finishing a quest in an RPG (go to x, do abc, quest complete) people who partake in that life will probably be selling themswlves short of a good time.
