I was in India for a year.

Yeah you're going to get harassed. Indian boys are by far he THIRSTiest group I have encountered. They'll ask for pictures with you 24/7 but wouldn't give a shit about you if you weren't female. A huge amount of them learned everything about white women from porn and will think you're up for fucking. You'll also have boys following you and staring at you for minutes at a time.

I also got a parasite my first week there (Bangalore). Be very very careful with the water. According to some numbers, half the country has it. it's very tough and you'll want metronidazole + albendazole if you want near 100% cure rate.

Indians are also way more tolerant of bug bites and parasites than Whites/Asians. They also aren't bothered by the filth.

Of all the cities you mentioned, Mumbai is by far the safest for women. While it's no New York, it's leagues better than the likes of New Delhi and Varanasi.

Harassment will be unavoidable, but you can take some common-sense precautions to lessen it. I'd advise getting a SIM card as soon as possible and installing apps like Uber. If you're in North India, then don't walk along deserted or seedy-seeming stretches of road unaccompanied.

The worst that's likely to happen is you'll get felt up in a bus or Metro carriage or another crowded place. As a man, I've had very few problems in India, but I've seen my brown female friends suffer plenty.

Be very careful if you're going out clubbing or to bars, as there are lots of men who will try to take advantage of an intoxicated foreign lady. I met up with a couple of Asian girls in Hauz Khas Village once. We were followed all the way down the HKV Village Road (20+ minutes) by a Mercedes full of retarded guys who kept asking us to get in and "party." When we got to the after-party they were intent on dragging me to, the Mercedes guys showed up inside and tried dancing with us the whole night.

It's really pathetic. Hung out with the same girls again a week later and the exact same shit happened. I had to put three of them on the back of my motorcycle to get a handful of clowns to leave us alone.

Having said that, you really need to learn where to draw the line between being too suspicious of strangers and too accommodating of their oddities. There are plenty of decent men and women in India, and you'd do well not to treat them all like potential rapists.

Cover up, make friends with Indian girls, and ask them about life. You'll probably learn a bit about what to do and what not to do, as well as get a good perspective on what life is like for women in developing countries (assuming you haven't already).

Anyway, happy to give you advice on where to go but I need more info. What time of year, what's your budget, do you prefer trains or flying, etc, etc.

India can be a problematic country for women, but the vast majority of female foreign travelers there never get into any serious trouble. Don't stress too much, but don't be a fucking idiot, either.

I remember I saw three or four white girls wearing short-shorts and cut-off shirts walking down the Main Bazar in Paharganj, New Delhi looking TERRIFIED. Would have felt bad for them, but you've honestly got to be beyond fucking stupid to do something like that in Delhi.

White woman who lived in India for a few months here. I didn't go to Bangalore, but I was in Karnataka. I recommend checking out Mysore, especially the market. Bear in mind, India is a huge place. If you want to check out somewhere like New Delhi, you'll be traveling for hours, maybe a whole day unless you go by plane.

I'll confirm what the other posters are saying; Indian boys are really, really thirsty. I'm not sure how it is in Bangalore, but outside the big cities I had to travel with a companion(preferably a trustworthy male).

Is 100% true. ESPECIALLY if you're blonde. And god help you if you have large tits.

Cover up, wear baggy clothing, walk quickly. DO NOT take alcohol or any other kind of mind-altering substance. Don't bring feminism or politics over there; Indians are very patriotic and will not want to listen to you lecture them on the evil's of arranged marriages.
Water purification tablets are vital. So is deet, and a mosquito net. Hand sanitiser is also a good call. Carry toilet paper, it's not really used over there so you'll need your own stash. It's a pretty dirty country and there's trash everywhere, but you become blind to it after a while.

Everything I have posted sounds negative, but I actually loved it. I met plenty of amazing people, including Indian men I would trust with my life. If you like curry, the food is incredible. The countryside is beautiful and there's a kind of glorious chaos in India that I absolutely fell in love with. They say it's one of those places you either love or hate.

It's an amazing, beautiful country with a rich history and culture. I could go back there every single year for the rest of my life and never get board. However, as other have said, it is not a comfortable country for a woman to travel in. While it isn't an active warzone, don't take your safety for granted. Be prepared for staring, catcalling, stalking etc... everywhere you go. If you meet a guy that you trust, go out with him whenever you can. Indian men are fucking pussies and won't do shit as long as you have a guy around. He doesn't have to be huge either - I'm 5'4 and skinny as hell and it still kept the thirsty dogs at bay. Look up some tips for dealing with common scams and avoiding harassment, stay safe, and have fun.

It is seems from your map that China and Pakistan share a border, actually when this is incorrect and false. China and Pakistan infact do not share internationally recognized border (under UN but including also US, as well as Russia).

Kindly rectify this mistake by either showing a true and correct map of the Republic of India or by atleast showing the territory that belongs to India but is claimed and occupied by Pakistan in a different colour, or with a dotted border, to signify that it is indeed not an internationally recognized border that China and Pakistan have

Indian here, if youre in bangalore in a major part of the city then you dont have much to worry about. There are things to do and see in the city and nearby.

One thing I will add is that in india it gets dark by 6:30-7pm!!! So plan ahead and if you are going out alone then use caution.

As other have stated, indian guys are horny as hell. Not everyone is like that but with the population size, you being a foreigner and girls just generally being prudes, it will be a bit annoying at times. If people are asking to take a picture with you tell them no. Wear thicker loose fitting clothes when you go out.

Carry a bunch of stuff from home, you can get everything there but the quality might not be as good.
