Hi guys!
I really want to visit subantarctic islands of New Zealand (especially Campbell island), but officail tours are so damn expensive. $5000+ for a person for few hours on the island itself.
My dream is to stay there for 2 days with a tent, but it seems barely possible, so one whole day will be great too.
So if there is somebody from NZ here or who traveled to that part of the world, could you please tell me any cheaper ways to get to these islands? Like some local tours or hiring a boat.
This is the saddest rock I've ever seen

Why not build your own boat out of wood and just throw there you can get everything you need at the hardware store and cover it with tar. Bring a radio if you think the Coast Guard will come save you but you probably won't sink

Get /out/
A big part of the reason it's so expensive to visit the islands is the cost of getting you back to NZ if something goes wrong. There's no runway for fixed wing aircraft and it's beyond the range of most helicopters (Campbell Island still holds the record for longest helicopter medevac rescue).
It's not like a party cruise to the Galapagos, you are fucking OUT THERE so both the cost and risk of tourist visitation increases dramatically.

Why not drink turtle blood to survive?

what?
why should he even bother?
it's an island, ISLAND. it is SURROUNDED BY WATER.
He can simply drink water, no need to hunt for turtles

>he thinks you can drink sea water
Drinking sea water would make you more thirsty, and eventually kill you.
Because turtle blood is sweet like honey, and loaded with vitamins and nutrients.
