Can I get a list of locations in the US that consist of small-ish but functional towns with a good amount to do while still not being far from nature? I'm thinking towns where you can see trees/mountains right outside of it such as Washington NJ, or Easton PA (but safer/cleaner); preferably on the east coast, but anywhere is also fine.
Thanks!

Pee-Town, Massachusetts.
Be sure to visit the Piggly Wiggly.

What is your preferred population? "Small" can mean different things to different people.

Asheville, NC. You're welcome

Portland, Maine sounds like it might be a place to consider.

This is the correct answer. Unless you want the beach, then look at Wilmiwood
Leavenworth, WA if you can stand all the fake-ass Bavarian village stuff.

I've been there a few months back. Good German food though.

Typically online quizzes for major life decisions are retarded, but this one takes a lot into consideration. Enter the population you want, as well as different features. Should give a couple places that suit what you're looking for to give you an idea of where to look. Don't just go based off of this, but take it as a general direction to look in.
